It all started early this year back when i used to be a 3~4 cigarettes per day smoker, I was at my office, borrowed one cigarette from a colleague after morning tea, and after that I started to have this chest pain on left side, I used to have chest pain before that as well but for a very short while, this one was a bit more severe and with that I started to have this tingling feeling under my face skin and nose ( which I later learned is a classic p/a symptom), I asked my Boss to take me to ER, there they took ECG, everything was OK, so they cleared me immediately, so we went to this other hospital and Doc gave me a pill to clam me down. That was my first episode. After that I got scared, I stopped smoking immediately, got really scared of driving, started to have pain in left arm & neck and felt really fatigued, I took a stress test, Ecocardiogram of my Heart, blood test for cholesterol, and one more visit to ER when I started to have palps during driving. There doc in ER recom Indreal to me.

I stayed scared of Palps for weeks to come and started searching the net because the chest pains never went away. I noticed myself having more gas than usual, and normally after a chest pain episode I found myself passing gas and pain going away. But all this left me with health anxiety. During the day I keep busy, but it gets worst when I get back home in the evens. I’ve searched the net for treatment, and if you look up the natural treatment w/o withdrawl / side effects, Natural remedies’s name shall pop-up, with meds like Triple complex nerve tonic, Pure calm etc. So, right now im going to get me some homeopathic nerve tonic, and im also thinking of seeing a doctor specially for chest pains later this week, since uptill now I’ve only been to ER and to a heart specialist once to show my stress test report.

I was wondering if someone can share which med they are taking for Anxiety treatment. Which one is the best, since I could make a list of the following from the web:

-Nerve Tonic

-Pure calm

-Seredyn (BioNeurix)

-Amoryn

-Serenity

Also anyone having chest pain due to GAS, how did they treat it, & what tests did the Doc ask for?

None the less HW, this place has given me real strength, since feeling of being alone is really draining. There are other ppl out there who can feel what I feel, and to whom I can talk to, since I’ve kept all this inside and haven’t shared this with anyone, since I don’t want my family feel worried about me.

God bless you all.

Best regards,

Arfa

Welcome Arfa

There are plenty of meds out there for a/p
Some are antidepresants ............others are benzo's with AD's ( such as klonopin ,valium zanax and ativan to name a few) till the AD's kick in which can take up to 4 to 6 weeks at times ........
Many have to try a variety of these( antidepressants) till they get the right one that will work for them ......

Along with medication I believe self help techniques such as Relaxation, breathing and meditation will help you out as well

With all the nes techniques out there we no longer have to just deopend on Meds.........

Dont get me wrong here medications are important and for some ( many) neede daily to fight this battle and just to function.........

A/P ppl are prone to chest pain or discomfort and heart palps as well as Health Anxiety so you are sure not alone there................

One great Self help technique whether the fre online one or thru a therapist is Cognitive behaviour Therapy

THis changes your way of thinking and thinking patterns .......

Many here are doing this CBT self included and I find it is GREAT for me

I am sure others will post their responses and Welcomes soon

This is GREAT SUPPORTIVE AND CARING FAMILY we have here that goes the extra step to help or try to help those in need

PLZ let us know how you make out and also
STAY with us and get the support you need

Again welcome abaord............LYN

Dear LYN,

Tons of thanks for your support, I've been to the doctor one more time about three weeks ago, and now i need to get my blood checked for thyroid & he asked for neck x-ray. I'm also thinking about a chest x-ray as well, while im at it.

I still get CHEST PAINS, traveling ones, and have searched the net over n over for a cure related to GAS & CHEST PAIN, as for Anxiety i found this Homeopathic med called DepressNIL, it carries Staphysagria, Gelsemium etc, and i must say it really helps with anxiety specially the one which takes over at evening when yr at home and watching TV.

Looking forward to support from HW members, anyone with similar problem. Though after the last visit to Doc i've calmed down a little bit more, and dont start to get anxiety even when having chest pains like i used to.

Any comments, thoughts & inputs on the case are highly appreciated, so everyone please let me know if some one out there is experience anything similar.

God bless you all, and may we all find LASTING HEATLH & PEACE.

Best regards,

Arfa

Arfa,

You said you have chest pains along with a lot of gas.  I too have anxiety and when I told my doc of similar symptoms, he was quick to pass the pains and gassy feelings off on the anxiety.  I told him I know my body and it wasn't the anxiety, that he needed to check my gall bladder.  He told me it wasn't my gall bladder and to quit worrying.

I ended up in the ER because I thought I was actually having a heart attack, it was hard for me to breathe and I had the gassy feeling.  They did a sonogram of my gall bladder, and guess what?  Yep, that was what was causing all the discomfort.  It was full of stones and adhesions.  They took the sucker out the next day and let me tell you, the relief was so welcoming!

With all of that being said, do you still have your gall bladder?  Have you had it checked?  Just a suggestion if you still do have it because it can cause those symptoms.

Good luck and take care...I hope this message finds you well!

Dear Sylk,
God bless you, i could have never known about this. Please share a few more lines with me, Gall Bladder is it something one must have to live like e.g., heart or brain, since by yr reply i can see that its expandable like tounsils.
Secondly, tell me more about, How they check the Gall Bladder?
If i decide to get it removed whats the procedure? is it a very lenghty operation, cutting up open one's tummy etc?
Please bear with me and pass on these details.

Lastly, I must say, having this problem is very annoying, since it makes me wonder how can gas travel all the way up my upper right chest corner? thats just impossible isnt it, so there has to be some explanation.

Thank you very mush for this information, i shall try to google this gall bladder thing to find more info.

God bless you all, and may we all find LASTING HEATLH & PEACE.

Arfa,

Well, I too, like you had a lot of feelings of pain in my stomach and chest.  When my gall bladder would act up, it would feel like the worst gas pains ever!  The episodes usually lasted anywhere from 15 minutes to a half hour.  I would still have discomfort, but I could function though.  The day that I actually went to the ER for the chest pains, I really thought I was having a heart attack, I had chest pains, short of breath, I couldn't sit, stand, walk or lay down without being in pain.  They did an ultrasound of my gall bladder and found it full of stones and adhesions.  I went into surgery the next day and had it removed.  They do it laprascopically (sp?), which means I had 4 tiny incisions on my belly for the procedure, and was out of the hospital 2 days after the surgery.

I felt like a new person after having it removed!  It is amazing how a tiny organ in your body can cause so much discomfort.

I hope this helps some more and I hope you can find the answers to your discomfort, I know it can get very frustrating!  You are in my thoughts!

Hello, I am Kitt and welcome to Healing Well and the A & P forum.  I have been away for a bit the past few weeks but I wanted to welcome you.

I hope you find the cause for your gass and the chest pain.  At our hospital our patients that have the laporocopic removal of the gallbladder usually go home the day of surgery unless you have some other reason to be admitted to the hospital.  I would have to say the majority of patients do very well.

I had my gallbladder out when they still did it through a big incision so medicine has made great strides. :)

I would encourage you to follow up with your physician if you do not feel good.

Keep posting and take care.

Kitt

Sylk LYN & Kitt,
What a great bunch of ppl you are. Im traveling, right now im Denmark, alone in hotel room and i started to feel a bit scared of having an episode here alone and guess what i came right over. What a great place it is HW, believe me i have a ball stuck in my throat as i say this, since i dont feel scared now after reading replies to my post.

Kitt and Sylk enlighten me more, Kitt you talked about OUR hospital, i take you are a doctor. I read about this Dr.Lewis procedure of getting rid of GallBladder stones, only with some OIL and lemon juice, they say it will just make them slip out of yr system, is it true, meaning if I do have stones should i give this oilnjuice thing a try first. I mean does it work?

Sylk, they made four small holes right, thats for removing the stones only right? Or did they remove the whole organ like that?

Also tell me i read in some post here in HW, someone saying something about a gas bubble, you get in yr chest or even in yr left arm, which causes pain. Is it physically possible that gas can travel out of yr intestines and into yr arm. Very strange, gee i guess after all the medical progress we've made we still cant answer this chest gas pain thing, atleast thats how i feel.

Yes i will get my GB checked now, mainly thanks to your inputs.

Will keep visiting HW.

and like i always say,

God bless you all, and may we all find LASTING HEATLH & PEACE.

Best regards,

Arfa

Dear Arfa,

Good Morning to you.  No I am not a Doctor but even better, I am a nurse, retired after 26 years as ICU/ER nurse. But on HW I am just like you, a member. :)

I have done some reading on the Gallbladder Flush and each site that I personally looked at was a site that was selling their products.  I would save my money and time as my personal opinion is, you cannot flush out a gallstone with oil and lemon.  Common sense tells me that if you could no one would have a gallbladder problem ever again.  This is my personal opinion.  Everyone is entitled to believe what they choose.

Indigestion, gas and anxiety may cause chest discomfort, however, if you are experiencing this and it is new for you, I would suggest you error on the safe side and have a check up.  Anytime you  have a new symptom I.E. Chest pain or arm pain you  should seek out a medical screening exam to make sure you are not dealing with a life threatening situation.

Can gas and anxiety cause chest pain?   Yes it definitely can, but just to be on the safe side I reiterate, get a check up.

Bless you and have a safe journey.

Dear Kitt,
Thank you for your reply and enlightening the path to health which we all seek so desperately. Ive had a few tests done this week, including thyroid functionality test, X-rays for spinal column since my Doc is of the opinion that any problem with spinal column may create chest pains and one x-ray of my chest which I asked for. Have also looked around on the net for this gallbladder issue, and also intend to ask about it when I meet my Doc sometime soon I hope. Please tell me this, most of the websites say that gall bladder issue should create chest pain on right side and maybe between shoulder blades. I feel I don’t have this problem, since most of the time I get problem on the left side. So, still suggest that I go for an ultrasound or no?

Keep in touch friends, God bless you all, and may we all find LASTING HEATLH & PEACE.

Best regards,

Arfa

Good Morning,

I do not think it would hurt to have the ultrasound to rule out the GB. I had very little discomfort with my gallbladder, just a nagging vague pain in abdomen and none into chest area and it was my gallbladder.

It never hurts to get a good physical and then you know more what it is not and can let worries about that system go from your thoughts. :) Glad to see you back

Dear Kitt and Dear LYN,
Thank you very much for your replies. You are very right in saying “better be safe than sorry”. So ultrasound, that’s what is next for me. LYN you say that anxiety and panic can mimic so much, please tell me isn’t it normal to have lets say a slight pain in chest and than your head starts racing, putting up the ridiculous thoughts as if you are about to die & only THAN you end up with building up anxiety and eventually panic, and yes on the way things just keep getting worse like additional physical thins pop-up like palps and numbness.
Please give me one info, have you ever tried any homeopathic med for anxiety, and why is that anxiety kicks in only at night or evening when you get back home and are supposed to relax, even on holidays I’ve felt like this, when yr at home the whole day.
Chest pain gas & anxiety, I wish they’d just leave me alone.
I’ll be around until I win this battle & will keep posting even after that, that’s for sure.
Thank you so so much for your replies, they really do mean a lot to me.
Best regards,

Dear Arfa,

I am posting a link to another thread here on chest pain and anxiety for you to browse through.

http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=9&m=312743

Why your anxiety waits until you get home I am not sure. Perhaps it is a build up of what your day's work has been like and all the anxiety comes out at home.

Signs of anxiety include restlessness, a lot of  worrying about things that probably will not

happen, and not being able to pay attention or remain focused on a task. Sometimes the stress can get extreme and lead to panic attacks.

Panic attacks are short times of intense fear and anxiety, which often include quick heartbeats, shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness or stomach problems.

Some things that may help lower your stress are:

• Getting enough rest (at least 8 hours a day)

• Meditation (sitting quietly with your thoughts)

• Listening to gentle music

• Reading

• Massage

• Taking a warm bath

• Going for walks

• Regular exercise that you are used to doing

I am glad to hear you are following up with the Doctor.  It is best to find out what it is not and than you can try to get rid of worrying about your gallbladder and/or heart. Please keep on posting.

Sorry I have been off for a bit due to family issues
I have had myself in such a state my heart was racing head pounding and dizzy as can be
'Like I said A/P can MIMIC so many issues that we have to be on alert at all times for health issues

I do hope you will get all things checked out tests done and let us know what is going on as we do worry about all here
Keep posting and STAY with us you do not have to go at this alone ...........

Good Day Dear Kitt & LYN,
many thanks for the link above, gee i've now got this new lead thanks to you "Splenic Flexure Syndrome SFS". Wanted to see Doc today btw its SAT, but last night MOM gave me this GNC tablets box called, Papayya Enzyme, there is a lot written on it related to Digestion, so have decided to give it a week's try if situation doesnt improve than THE DOC it is for me, also have to show him the results from my last tests as well, but its been very kind of you to point out this SFS, will ask him about this.
Else have decided to fight anxiety all the way, its a mental thing, and its helping as well, since even with chest pain episodes i keep on doing whatever i was doing without taking much notice and they go away in 5-10mins.
God bless all of you, shall report back as soon as my story takes the next step.
with best regards,

Arfa

HI arfa i havent been on in a while so i havent had a chance to meet you.Sound like you got the typical symotms all of us anxiety ridden people have! I have been having panic and anxiety for almost 11 years sometimes i feel like i'm winning the battle while other times i'm just not sure. You mentioned gas problems as i understand it gas can set up anywhere in your body and the pain when gas is in your chest can feel similiar to an heart attack.A long time ago i kept having this annoying back pain that would not go away,I started out taking over the counter pain meds and nothing helped so i finally went to the dr. come to find out i had something called gastritus. The gas had travled to my lower back and it really felt like something more serious than gas. It had me scared there for a minute until i found out what it was. Anyway the dr. gave me some kind of medication and it cleared right up!! I had the problem again sometime after that and took an anti-gas medication over the counter and the pain went away. But like everyone has told you always consult with your dr. especially when your'e dealing with any kind of chest pains just to rule out anything serious. And welcome to HW were all rooting for you here!!!

Greetings my fellow HW Members.
Special Hello to you Panike.

I AM CURED!

Yes, i know anxiety can leave you alone & than return, but gee the last post I wrote was back in Feb 2008, now its Sep 2009, 19months have passed. What I have done to defeat my anxiety is as follows;

- When you are having typical anxiety attack, try to think of something else, even though a tiny voice in my head tells me that Im only fooling myself by thinking of other things, but it really helps. This formula is for when lights go-out, meaning when you are finally in your bed for sleep.

- Use two pillows, keep your head raised above your tummy level, this is mainly for my acidity and gas.

- Turn to your right side, so yr dinner is going into your intestines and doesnt get stuck in your stomatch.

- I bought me a cycle as the result of my new year resolution and take off every evening for 30mins around the block.

- Especially go for veges and all those green things in office lunch hour from salad bar.

- Have 100% stopped eating Beef, smoking & cola drinks. Its juice & nectars for me. Crazy about guvava nectar.

Thats all i guess.

The good signs are that i have got back my 10kgs which i lost worrying about dying back in 2007. I went down to 50kgs, now back to 60kgs.

And thats about it.

Sorry for reporting back so late, but i just had to be sure. So, anyone who had anxiety comming back kindly do comment if 19months of living FREE & NORMAL is long enough to say "IM CURED"

Looking forward to your replies.

We remain with best regards,

Arfa H. J.
