Hi there wtcmlife. Welcome to healingwell.

I am on Lexapro, and have been since June. I went to the doctor with severe anxiety, panic attacks, and agoraphobia. He put me on Lexapro, and Xanax...as needed. I started on the 10 mg of Lexapro at the end of June, and by mid July, I was coming out of being agoraphobic. I was able to leave my house, but still not go too too far without taking .5 mg of Xanax. In like August he upped my Lexapro to 20 mg, because my panic attacks were still pretty severe.

He then suggested I go to a psychiatrist, which I did, actually yesterday was my 1st appointment with her.

Anyway, Lexapro helped me to get over the most severe part of my anxiety, mainly with the agoraphobia, but seems to have already "pooped out" on me, as my symptoms are starting to return. So, I am in the progress of weaning off Lexapro, and my Pdoc wants to try Effexor XR.

I am grateful to Lexapro for helping as much as it did, I only wish it could have lasted longer.

I do hear though, it is a wonder drug for some, as everyone is different.

Are you thinking of going on this drug??

Wishing you all the best!

Yea, you asked a good question, and I gave somewhat a not great answer. I started taking Lexapro because I was agoraphobic, had severe anxiety, and panic attacks. I too started on the 10 mg, but was soon after upped to 20 mg, where I did fine for a while, then it kind of pooped out. It is good to get other peoples experiences, as long as you know that you may react differently to it.

I was having full blown panic attacks daily, and was just super anxious all the time. It was unbearable for me.

The Lexapro did help. Hang in there, as it may work for you too!!!

Are you asking me if I am ok? I am fine.

The first answer I gave, I just flew through because I was in a hurry. I felt I was able to give a better answer about my symptoms is all.

Everything is fine.

Hi wtcmlife,

First of all - Welcome to Healing Well - you have picked a great place to gain information, support and advice.  This is a wonderful family.

I was on Lexapro, 10mg daily for depression, for about 3 months, but they were all samples the doctors gave me.  While on Lexapro, I didn't experience any problems and felt pretty good.  When it came time to have an actual prescription, my insurance company wouldn't approve it because I had not gone through their proper steps for medications of this sort - whatever the h**l that mean!  Because of that I am now taking Celexa (I can't remember the dose off hand), but I actually think it may have to be increased a little bit because I'm not sure it's working very well.  I have to call my pdoc for that one.

I hope this has helped and hope that you stay with us and continue posting.

Take care,
