Hello Curly

Welcome to the A & P forum.  I think your meds sound okay but if you feel they are not working for you, please talk with your physician.

I am wondering if your in therapy and if not that may be a good option for you.  Learning to live with the anxiety and not let it control you is the best way to get past these feelings your experiencing.

Most of the people on the site seek out therapy to help them.  CBT is one of the methods of therapy used.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy...
is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the important role of thinking in how we feel and what we do.  Please look into therapy.

Take care. I hope you feel better soon

Hi Curley,

What amount of Effexor do you take?.. I was taking 75mg but that didnt really help, so i was increased to 150mg, and now i feel alot better and can do more and go further outside without getting panic attacks, and if i do feel an attack coming on i fond it is easier to control..

Although that is just me and everyone is different, but you should consult your doctor.. :-)

Curley

You took my exact words out of my mouth, " I want my old self back". I have tried to let go of that old self as I am not the same person anymore and I need to accept who I am.  I think perhaps you are like me and it is so hard not to wish the anxiety would just go take a flying leap but each day I find I do better now.  I give myself permission to feel a bit down but if I start getting into a rut, then I give myself a bit of a swift kick in the behind.

My husband has Crohn's so I understand your fear of leaving the house.  Of course each person's Crohn's takes a different path that is individual to them.  My husband has his rituals and I learned a long time ago not to get in his way or  try to change him.  He is comfortable eating on his schedule etc.  so I accomodate him.

Keep posting and I am glad you have a therapist.  I am here and I support you.  Gentle Hugs

Kitt

HI ya sis
Glad ya popped over..........

Many take different antidepressants and meds for anxiety /panic attacks
Xanax never did anything to help me either and I am not on AD's but I have taken valium and or ativan .....as you knoww from the cd forum and the ativan helps with the PG......

There are so many self help techniques out here to help as well as meds ...that med should have kicked in by now I believe ....usually only 4 to 6 weeks for majority of peeps.......

I have seen some of the change in you the " downs" and I am so sorry that it has to be happening to you ..........Talk to your doc about another AD perhaps .....stay in therapy thats great for you .....and you may want to ask for a different benzo for a trial to see if it helps better.........

There is relaxation tech's
Cognitive behavioural Therapy
Meditation
Deep Breathing
And Books out there as well as this forum has a great group of ppl that are always here to help out and support you in your times of need

We can get you to laughing too occasionally .......lol..........especially at my Dumbbutt

Please do stay with us and I am so happy you came over here.......Luvs
