I had my colonoscopy/endoscopy yesterday--------

MD SAID:  'I'M COMPLETELY, 100% HEALTHY'!!!!!

Yahoo!  yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

No polyps, no hiatal hernia, no ulcers, no GERD (although I took meds for it for four months), no UC, no Chron's----completely clean and clear!

However, the GI guy did take 2 biopsies, "to be safe"-----but, he thinks I may be experiencing IBS!  I don't have to go back for a colonoscopy for 5 years!

(here comes the "yeah, but.....")

I guess I don't understand why I have these pains in my right ribs, mid back, under my right shoulder blade, etc....

Although MD told my hubby that he thinks I am experiencing those pains b/c of the IBS----and b/c my colon does go wayyy up near my mid-back----that it is effecting my back!  Could be the gas, could be cramping, etc.....

So---next step---is to figure out what is triggering the IBS---and I guess I need to go through this with my primary Doc about what to take (anti-spasmodic drug, the Effexor, etc...)----

so much to figure out---with all of this I am experiencing---I feel a step closer to getting my MD degree myself (LOL)!

Thank you SOOO MUCH for listening to me, and holding my hand through this whole thing!  I will still be whining here about my health anxiety---and anxiety in general, but, I guess Iwill be posting on the IBS board as well!

Love ya' HW friends! Cyber hugs!

Laurel,

Hey there, so glad your scope is behind you..........lol.  I have IBS but I just put it out of my mind as trying to figure what triggered it for me was not something I wanted to worry about

I don't take anything except fibercon daily.  I know when it kicks in the spasms are extremely painful and when I was working fulltime I had several occasions when I did have to come home.  The pain made me weak and nauseated but that was the extreme.  I am careful to make sure I eat enough fiber and drink lots of water.

The physicians explanation re where your pain is makes sense.

I am sure your biopsies will be fine as most Docs will take a few just as a precaution.

Way to go my friend.  Take care and keep posting.

Kitt

Kit---are you saying that the physician explaining my pains in my right ribs, mid back etc... are pains from IBS? Or do you think they can be spasms? Gas? both?

If so, that just baffles me! I guess that is why it's hard to believe that IBS makes me feel this crappy! ;(

I RARELY have Constipation----usually the really lose stool or Diarrhea....

You can get the spasms pain and gas from the IBS...... IBD hun.........

I have crohns and I have constand D everyday nothing stops it not even all the pain meds I take ...

I am happy that this is behind you and now you can move on knowing that you can help yourself by learning what can cause it to trigger
I know my food triggers all of them .....learnt the hard way lol but each is different and I am sure you will find that too

Stress can trigger this too so if you are constantly stressing over triggers then you will or may flare so ...try not to worry too much and do let us know what the doc says about all of this and meds you go on...........

Take care

thanks Lyn! I just think it's weird that gas/stress etc.. can cause pain in my ribs, and sternum--it's like a hot pain! I am definetly a "stress ball"--------I don't know why-----except I expect a LOT of myself---am my own worst critic--and sometimes feel I can't keep up with the pace of anything! Then, to have this health anxiety----that really throws me for a loop! So--it's a vicious cycle for me----and I just wish I could go back about 12 years-----when all was well and flowin' along just fine...........SIGH!

thanks for your support Lyn and Kitt, and Tammy---and everyone! It means a lot!
