Hi! I post on the crohns board but I just got an rx for .25 Xanax for some upcoming flights I have.  I am a very fearful flyer and it always gets my crohns acting up and the doctor thinks this should help me be more comfortable.  She told me to take 1 at first and if I still feel bad to take another.  I have never taken an anxiety med before.  She told me to try one at home sometime before my flights to make sure I don't have any adverse side effects to it.  I thought that was a great idea.  So, I looked at the side effects online and I noticed that it said to let your doctor know if you are on birth control.  Well my doctor prescribed my ortho evra patch so I know she knows I'm on it.  I was curious however, why it mentioned a conflict w/ birth control and xanax.  Will my birth control still be effective.  If anyone knows please let me know! Thanks!!!

From info I have seen birth control pills may prolong the effects of benzodiazepines (Xanax).

That may be a good reason to try one at home to see how you tolerate the med too.

Keep us posted.
