i know growing up i was scared to be around other kids i was convinced they were staring at me, used to make me miserable, when they would laugh i was convinced it was me they were laughing at, but want i do now your goin to think is goofy i pretend to be someone stronger who doesn't care, what people think. i even have pretended in my mind i was a actress that i think is strong and use that feeling to get through a situation i know it sounds crazy but it works for me, i had a tormented life worrying want people thought, and the older i get i seem to care less and less, but i still have my moments, my meds have helped, but try to find something that make you feel strong above all the people for a moment to help you through a situation.. :-) i'll be if you need to talk more

Hello and Welcome to Healing Well,

I am Kitt and I have been reading your posts.
Regarding the social anxiety, here is a good definition for you:

Social anxiety is the fear of social situations that involve interaction with other people. Put another way, social anxiety is the fear and anxiety of being judged and evaluated by other people. If a person usually becomes anxious in social situations, but seems fine when they are alone, then "social anxiety" may be the problem.

I would like to suggest that you talk with your physician and discuss the idea of  seeing a therapist to help you learn methods to cope with your anxiety may be a good choice for you.

CBT therapy was mentioned some where in one of your posts and IMHO that would be a wonderful suggestion and idea for you to consider.

Anytime we have a disorder that keeps us from living a productive and happy life we should reach out and ask for help.  You have done this by coming to the A & P forum.

Take care and know we are here. Keep on posting.
Kitt

I am so glad you are willing to talk to your therapist.........especially regarding your self-harm issues.  You will benefit greatly from being honest with your therapist.

We are here and we are your online support  family. The information provided in this forum is designed to support, not replace, your relationship with your therapist so please continue to see your counselor.

Gentle Hugs

Kitt
