hey all.
i have been diagnosed with postpartum anxiety and depression.
Well, a day ago.. I was laying there in bed..
And I raised my head up and everything started to spin.
I tried to get up and realized my body was going numb.
like you know what it feels like when your arm falls asleep?? and it feels weird when you move it??
thats EXACTLY how my WHOLE ENTIRE BODY feels like.
Like when i pinch my skin it feels numb..
And this happened at 2 am a day ago. I got a good night rest last night
and stillll feel like this.
i just feel really weird!!!

i went to the ER yesterday...
They did blood work and he says everything is fine.
So this has to be my anxiety or something.....

anyway PLEASE HELP!! i'm scared im about to die!

Hello there skylersmommy, and welcome to healingwell. This is an awesome place to get support, answers, and help of any sort when you have problems. I am glad you found us, although I am sorry you are feeling so bad.

I don't know what you are feeling, as I have never felt this before, but I can say if you got a full work up from the ER, and you are still feeling bad, maybe you should call your family doctor and set something up. A family doc is more reliable than the ER, cuz he knows you personally, ya know?

Please, stick with us, and keep us updated on how you are feeling, and what's going on!

Hello and welcome to Healing Well and the A & P Forum.  You will meet many warm and caring members here who know where your coming from and what your going through. :)

Because each person has a unique chemical make up, the  anxiety symptoms and their intensity will vary from person to person. Numbness is one of the symptoms that people may feel.

If you have been to the ER and they have done a medical screening evaluation to determine that you do not have an emergent problem than I would try to let go  of the fear of dying.

Do you have a therapist that you are working with?  How about meds for your depression, are you on anything?

I would agree that making an appointment to have a physicial by your family physician is a good idea if you continue to have the numbness.

You will find we are open 24/7 so please keep posting and I hope you are soon feeling better.

Again a warm welcome
Kitt

hi there and welcome to the site! just wanted to let you know that i also have numbness...mainly on my left side but at times all over. i've had ekg's (numersous times) mri,cat scan, bloodwork even went to a neuro they find nothing..so i would say yes anxiety can cause numbness but like others have said..not a bad idea to see your primary physican as he will also put ur fears at ease.
This too shall pass!! Take care,Dottie :)

I have experienced numbness through most of my body - not my entire body though - due to extreme anxiety. In fact this is how I know a huge attack is on its way. I walk around - do situps - assure mysel I can move & am not really "paralyzed".
This helps. Also a warm bath allows me to feel the warmth - anoter indicator I can really feel my body. I also try to eat something or have a warm cup tof tea.

I've had every blood work up there is & still all points to anxiety. I finally found a combo of meds that works for me - Lexapro 20mg, Ativan 1mg which I take the second I'm feeling an attack coming on - which thankfully is not every day anymore & Ambien when I can't sleep. I find sleep has a been a miracle for anxiety management & numbness. Hope this helps.
