I have had panic disorder for over 20 years and have been taking xanax, inderal and
effexor xr for many years. For several years I wake up 2-3 times nightly with bad dreams. Could anyone recommend the type of doctor who would understand what is causing the dreams and the bad sleeping pattern.

Perhaps you should explore with your physician if your meds are causing the nightmares.  Some of the meds do have this side effect.

I am sorry that your having this happen as I know how tired you feel when you do not have a good nights sleep.

Take care and keep posting.
