Howdy!
Well the EGD went as well as it could. The esophogitis is healed, but there is definitely Barretts and it is a larger area than before and tey still aren't ruling out dysphasia until the biopsies come back. Kind of a bummer to have went through 2 Nissens and still have the Barretts spreading. Hopefully the PPIs slow it down.
Strange I usually am very tired after having the sedation for the EGD, but this time I haven't been able to sleep. In fact I have now been up for 43 and 1/2 hours. Can't lay down long enough t get to sleep and sitting up just makes my neck hurt too. Come on Monday! I did manage to get my daughter's and my sister's computers back up to par. They sure do get a lot of junk in them. Had to change a couple parts in my daughter's due to the lightning that killed mine in June also got hers. She was tired of using her laptop all the time, but she is happy now.

Well hope everyone has a great weekend.

Take care,
Bill

Hey Bill,

I am so sorry to hear the Barretts has spread, do let us know as soon as you know the results of the biopsies.  Perhaps the medication worked the opposite on you this time and made you hype instead of sleepy...........sorry to hear that.

When you do fall asleep you will probably sleep for hours on end.

Good job on those computers................way to go.

Thinking of you and sending healing prayers your way.

Love and hugs

Kitt

Hi Bill sorry to hear about the barrettes. You sure didn't need any bad more news. I'll keep you in my prayers. I hope your getting some sleep. I can't believe how talented you are with computers. Too bad you couldn't do a job like that then it wouldn't depend on whether or not you can lift.

Hi Anne, I slept like a rock last night. Didn't want to get out of bed this am. My boss started out a little crabby but didn't say any thing about my appointment until I asked her as she was leaving early and she said it was fine. Guess I caught her on a good day. Whew! I found out today that we had somewhere between 300-500 tricker treaters last night at the center. Wow! Nobody expected it. Some one had to make a bunch of runs for candy because the vendors kept running out. Big success. Well I am off to work my part time job tonight. Tomorrow will be busy getting ready for our party when my family all comes over. Hope you have a good night and Happy Halloween.

Kitt hope you had a good day. Happy Halloween to all. Barb

Howdy-
I did manage to get 4 hours of sleep. Had to get up and go to the High School to pick up my daughter's home work. I just got my computer back online. I decided to upgrade my hard drive again since the other one I bought was going out. Thankfully it gave me some warning and I had enough time to replace it before it completely quit. I had been using my old sata 1.5.....wow those things are slow compared to the new ones! This one is even faster than my other one that is going bad. Guess that's what I get for being cheap and buying a used one. Oh well, win some loose some.

Kitt- I have never had the sedation meds do that before, but I sure couldn't get to sleep all day and night. I finally got to sleep about 7:30 am. I should have known something was going to be strange when it took about 10 minutes and 2 doses of the stuff to get me to sleep at the procedure. It's funny when they keep asking you if you are a sleep yet wen you are staring at them smilewinkgrin devil smilewinkgrin

You would figure they could figure that much out! smhair . I started to laugh at her the 3rd time she asked me. devil

Well have a great weekend!

Bill I'm glad you finally got some sleep. I've had that happen after sedation. I've had to have 7x the normal amount and I still felt the pain during a procedure. I got so used to the meds and after being on long term pain meds after accident it changes your chemistry is what I was told. They have to do something different with me now called MAC and they have a anesthesiologist there that does it. I felt nothing the last 2 procedures. I wish my hand doc would do that as the last surgery I had terrible pain in the hand and arm that they had the IV for the sedation and the dang blood pressure cuff on. Have you gotten rid of your cramps after stopping the statin? I sure hope so. My chiropractor told me to up my magnesium to 750 to help with the cramps so far so good. I see my massage therapist on Monday so that should help too. I'm not looking forward to hearing what the gynecologist has to say about my bladder. I do not want another surgery but I sure don't like all this leaking either. If I have to have surgery I'll try to get them to coordinate it so it's during the time I'm off for my hand. I sure wish they could do both at one hospital at the same time but my hand doc was fired from the hospital that my other doc does surgery at. After he gave his notice they fired him the next day. He's an awesome doctor though and I won't let any one else touch my hand. Well I better go take my shower before I have to head off to work. My hubby had both my nephews spending the night so he should have fun. They both came and did trick or treating. I stayed home and handed out candy this year. We didn't have any where near what we have had in the past for trick or treaters. It was fun having all my sisters and some of the kids here too. My daughter dressed up and so did my 3 sisters that came. We take pics have dinner and then walk around with the little ones. Have a good night and do try to get some more sleep. Barb

Wow, Bill! I've never heard sedatative making someone hyper.
Barb, My boss told me to make all of my appointments after 3:00pm. That's when all of the children have gone home and I'm on planning time. I can do this with most of my doctors, except when it's bloodwork day. Then I have to miss part of my morning (doctor's slow).
Tonight I gave out six pounds of candy. I do a haunted porch every year.

Joy, Yeah I'm weird and things affect me differently than most people. I try to make my appointments as late as possible and on Mondays and Tuesdays as those are not usually days she has meetings but it doesn't always work out that way. It all depends on the doctors. I always do blood work on Saturday morning as not to interfere with work. The haunted porch sounds really cool. wow that is a lot of candy. I have tons left but will send it with the nephews. My daughter and sisters took some of it home with them. I don't need it hanging around here. Man my nephews are hyper and rather irritating. Too much candy and soda. Glad I am going to work tonight. My poor hubby. Lol. I am waiting for pics of the grandkids by email tonight. Her phone didn't work well as it doesn't have a flash like mine. Well better go get my shower. Have a good night Joy. Good morning Kitt, Hmmmmmmmmmm me travel. Do you really think that is a good idea. Lol. I wouldn't want to travel with me. The thought of warm weather is tempting though. November means snow isn't far off. Yuck! If I could just stay inside in my fleece PJs all winter I could handle it. Wow you didn't have many kids. I ate too much chocolate and my tummy didn't feel so good either. I think we need some tums or Gaviscon. I need to get the candy out of my house. One of my nephews took a bunch with him but there is still too much left over. When my sister comes to get the other nephew I'll get her to take it for her 2 kids. Well better go get some things done around the house. Still waiting for pics of my grand kids in their costumes. I can't wait to see how cute they are. Barb

Bill, sorry oto hear that the Barretts is spreading and that you still have reflux.

I'm going in for an EGD on Wned. because I have been having a lot of muscular/nerve pain that I have started being able to manage with Motrin. My wrap still feels very tight and that may be the problem, I think. I still cant bare to carry anything heavier than a gallon of milk because I my esophogus starts to throb like a smashed finger does, and I start to get the palps. This is the second day I have been taking 600MG of motrin and dont know why I didnt start sooner. I have some vicotin but dont know if I can pass down such a big pill. The motrin pills are tiny and I still need yogurt of a bannana to push them down.

I hope things start to get better for all of us!

Hey Raphael, I still have the problem with the pills 9 years later. I was told my esophagus has lost the ability to push the food through like it should which can be a side effect of the surgery. It sucks but I have learned to deal with it because they told me loosening the wrap could cause more acid to come up. I just drink a lot of water when I eat and eat something when I take pills and sucking on hard candy so you swallow a lot helps me. I always suck on a piece of candy before I lay down so that I clear out any liquid in my esophagus or I will choke on it. Was your surgery recent? I hope some of this helps you. Barb

Barb, thanks for the explination. Yes, I too feel like I have lost some motility in my esophogus. I stared feeling it when this new issue that I'm dealin with started about 3 weeks ago. It seems like food gets stuck and even when I drink water it doesnt help too much. I will feel the food enter my stomach a few minutes later. Yes it does suck but like you, I understand that if thats the way it need sot be its better to deal with that than with acid coming back up.

4-5 weeks after the surgery I could eat with out drinking after every bite. Now I have to pretty much take a sip of water after swallowing every bite.

Tomorrow it will be 12 weeks since my surgery.

I'm really anxious about having my EGD on Wend. because I'm curious to know what my esophogus looks like now that I have had the surgery.

Thanks again,
Rafael

I hope you can get some answers after your EGD.  I am so sorry you are having issues yet and yes I would like to believe at 12 weeks you should be feeling better.  You have my prayers and support.

Hi All,
So sorry I haven't been able to get on lately. I thought things would slow down once we got into the apartment, and while it is a lot easier at home, school has taken over my time now. We have been doing parent conferences, so that has required assessments and collecting and analyzing the data I've collected. Now report cards are due on Monday, which adds more demands.
I'd love to get on and chat with all of you! Hopefully at some point I'll have time freed up. Whenever possible I'll get on and say hi.

Good luck with your EDG Rafael! Hopefully they'll be able to get to the bottom of your problems. I still take liquid calcium and crush my vitamin C tabs. I can take One-a-Day type vitamins and my other meds are small enough.

Anyway, I'm missing everyone, and think of you daily.
Hang in there and have a good week!
Denise

Denise,

So good to hear from you and to know you are keeping pleasantly busy. I feel this school year is going to fly by for you.  I am sure living in an apartment is way different from being in your own home.  So your making new memories.  :)

We miss you but understand completely that your schedule is full right now so no worries and know we are always here.

Blessings,

Kitt

Kitt, Deniese, thanks for the well wishes.

Bill, I hope your doing well and still pushing forward. I hope all this is'nt taking too bad of a toll on your great attitude.

The symptoms have been very manageable with 600mg of Motrin. I was able to help my wife with doing some laundry yesterday and it was easier for me to get around. The pain med. also alows me to be able to caryy a bit more weight with out irritating my esophogus to much. But I can see my self having to take that every day just to get my life back. I can swallow Motrin pills just fine since they are thin.

My appetite has also been better the last few days and I have been eating a bit more solid foods than before. With out the discomfort, eating is more enjoyable and less of a chore.

I'm sure I everything will be fine. I just want to hear the doctor say, "every thing looks normal and the feelings you are having will go away".

I'll update you guys tomorrow after I have my EGD.

Where in the world has our Bill been? I sure hope he is doing ok.

Hi all, sorry I didn't post at all yesterday but last night I fell asleep at the computer and went to bed early after hubby woke me up. Besides I've read some of my posts after I have taken my sleeping pill and there is all sorts of spelling mistakes and some of it doesn't even make sense. Lol. I had a long day. Work, gynecologist, weight group and then to get a massage. Didn't get home until after 9pm.

Raphael, glad the motrin is working for you. I can't take that because of my ultra sensitive stomach. Do you find the larger pills are a problem versus the little pills? It's really weird but I find the little pills get stuck easier and if I don't eat something to push it through they just sit there and cause a burning sensation. I find the worse foods to eat are any thing that are bread like (bread, cake, waffles). I hope all goes well with your test tomorrow.

Kitt, I could travel with you then! Where shall we go? Lol. How are your sores healing? Hope they are doing lots better.

Denise glad to see you around again. Hope your doing well with your health. Have you ever had allergy shots? Both my allergy doc and asthma doc want me to get the shots as they think it will be a big help. The asthma doc wants me to think about getting Xolair by IV once a month for allergies until the shots kick in. I think my doctors are just thinking of ways to torture me! The gynecologist is talking surgery for my bladder. I'll have to think about that one. Have you had the flu shots? My lung doc had a fit today when he found out I hadn't had either one. He told me he has 4 patients on the ventilator with H1N1 and he doesn't know if they will make it. His office doesn't have either vaccine left though and neither does my regular doc. The local drug store is out too and suggested a site on line so looks like I might be able to get one through a health department in a neighboring county. Probably just the seasonal one. I sure hope you stay healthy through this school year.Talk to you all later.

Hi Y'all-
Sorry I haven't been on here much lately. Between the ribs, muscle cramps returning, doctor appointments and computer upgrades I just haven't had much time.
I am going back to Loyola Thursday for an appointment with a pain management doctor for my ribs. My local surgeon decided since the Lyrica stopped working so soon it is time to try this. I have to go tomorrow for more blood tests for the muscle cramps since they returned full force Saturday evening.
I also decided to put in some job applications and am going back to Automotive mechanics. There is less heavy lifting involved and I won't be on 3rd shift. It will be a pay cut, but atleast I should be able to stay working.
Well got to tend to my daughters hard drive upgrade now.

Take care,
Bill

Bill, you sound like you have enough work a home. Wouldnt it be great if we could get paid for that?LOL!!

Hopefully they will get to the bottom of the muscle cramps. That must feel awfull.

Talking about computers, I got a trojan yesterday after I restarted my PC. I had McAfee anti virus which to me, wasnt worth the money. I went this morning and bought the Webroot Premier(expensive!!). Will you believe that the Trojan was in my McAfee anti virus!!! I needed to uninstall the McAfee to install the new software and it fought me tooth and nail....but I got it out of my PC!!! The Webroot system works 1000 times better and has way more protection.

I hop eevery one else is doing well!

Anne & Janice I called our city health department because no one else had it and they said I could have it and then called and said that I didn't meet the criteria any more as they were just doing children. They called back by after noon because the criteria had changed to include asthma and heart disease so I ran over and got the H1N1 before they changed it again. Now I have to continue the search for a regular flu shot. Our neighboring county won't give it to any one out side of the county so I can't get it there. I might try to get one through our county health department or wait until the doctor gets some in. Well have to get to bed. Busy day a head tomorrow. Can't wait for the weekend. Glad to see bill around again. So sorry about the cramps coming back. I've only had one in the last week in my foot and was screaming for my husband to bring my biofreeze. I didn't get as much magnesium or drink as much water so it must have made a difference. Maybe you could try those two things. Barb.

Rafael-
The only virus I ever got was while using McAfee. I will never use it again. There are several very good free ones out there. AVG is good, but uses a lot n using Avira for the laptops and really like it.
I have CA Trust that comes with our cable internet for free so I use that for the desktops, but I would use the Avira in them if I didn't get the CA Trust free.

Anne-
How are things after the EGD? Did you get all the results yet?

Barb- If you can find it you should probably get that flu shot. It is about impossible to find around here right now.

Denise and Kitt- Hope all is well and things are going good at school.

Well tomorrow I get to make the trek to Loyola again. Who knows, maybe they can get these ribs under control.

Take care,
Bill

Barb,
I caught the swine flu before I could get the shot. I'm getting a chest cold right now. Deep chest coughs... sniffles.
I just got sad new today. My best friend at work has to go on disability now. Her vision has always been weak and she was born blind in one eye. Now, she's been told she's developed scar tissue in her good eye and her doctor's told her there's no cure. She's disappointed about having to stop teaching. I'm going to miss seeing her at work. We've worked together for 10 years. I told her I wasn't going to abandon her, but that we would still get together for outings.

In the ten years I've been at my job there is only 7 out of 43 people left who were there the year I started. Most of them have retired, one of them died. I've never heard of such a turn- over at a school. :(
