Just wanted to update my dear friends on HW concerning how things are going. I know I'm not posting like I used to and a lot of it is because I have been so busy with things ( dr. appts., Psych appts., and such) I just haven't had much time for anything these days. Anyway, the siatic pain has increased due to my knee pain (of course what else would it do?) and my back pain is out of control because of the same thing. I don't know what I did to my knee byt, its driving me crazy. I have been trying to get on the treadmill at least once a day and am doing at least 5 min. Sleeping is still a joke and I think my husband is getting to his last straw with my non-sleeping habits.
I got sick of looking at my filty home today and headed in the kitchen to sweep and mop the floor. Well....this was the wrong thing to attempt, though I did get the sweeping done before my knee, siatica and back went totally off the charts! Don't think I will be attempting that any longer and I'm thinking about
finding someone to hire to do simple tasks around the house so that hubby doesn't have to come home after 9 hours at work and clean the house. Of course.....I can't afford to pay much, but we shall see what comes out of that.
Still haven't heard from disability. It's now in tenn I think being looked at by a special commity that deals with SS beni's. So still waiting on that to happen. I'm not hoding my breath either LOL! It's about
this time that the house gets a good going through and the Christmas boxes are brought up so that I can see what needs replaced and begin the ardious task of putting out the lighted deer, lights, wreath and lighted garland before it gets too cold to put them up. They don't get plugged in until Dec 1st but, at least they are up and done before the weather turns for the worse.
Too, the cabnets are cleaned off so that all my christmas pretties can be placed. I have this awesome village that is so gorgous as well as all my christmas bears. I go all out decorating as you can see. But....presents are going to be really slim this year so I gotta come up with something I can make hubby. I have some Steelers material for a blanket so I think I will get it done.
Anyway, that's about
what is going on here in lower eastern Kansas. The weather has been up and down which has given me a head cold from the depths of heck! UGGGGGG, does anything clear so that I can see the sun?
Hugggs to all!
Scarred
P.S. Oh I forgot to mention that once again we (hubby and I) will be headed for his mom's for Thanksgiving. Only time I really enjoy the company. :-(

Hi scarred, You mad women cleaning kitchens with back pain! Its hard though, I keep looking at the bottom of my fridge, trouble is getting back up again! I'm lucky I pay my children and they do a good job if I pay them. Shame we live so far away or I could send them over to you.
Hope you have a great Thanksgiving. Its on the 4th right? I know I'm a heathen Aussie. We did celebrate Halloween though.
Last year my nephew was over from the States and he made us a typical Thanksgiving turkey dinner, so I do have some experience of it.
Good to hear from you again, golitho

Thanks for posting you silly goons! hehehe. Okay so I'll start with Char and work my way down LOL.
Char; Let me tell ya it was an effort in futility! The kitchen needs more then just swept and mopped for sure, but I am the least of who will be attempting that duty anytime soon LOL. Hubby said that he would get to the dishes tonight and mop for me, so I'm not gonna worry too much about
it. I did have to use my tens unit after the Kitchen fiasco and I now wish that I had one for my dang right knee. Boy does it hurt!! I've been alternating with heat and ice on the knee and that seems to help as much as anything. I'll post as much as I can, but you know how that goes LOL. I have a doctor's appt with the Orthopedic surgeon next tue so I will update on how that went.
Kathy; where at in KS? I'm in the central southern part of the state...Pratt to be exact. I just moved here a year ago, so that hubby and I could help look after his mother who is been diagonised (sp) with Alzhiemers desease. My father-in-law too is pretty sick so we have been dealing with the two of them as much as we can, which is usually every weekend.
Lastly, but not leastly my dear golitho; How are you? I know I've just gone mad in my later years of life hehe. I hate seeing my house so filthy and am trying to get it clean so that I can sooner or later put up the Christmas stuff and get my baking done for the family. Everyone gets a care box every year from me as my present and its usually filled with fudge,
cookies, candies and a applesauce cake that I make from scratch. But the last few years it has been rather difficult to do the baking and I've been trying to get back into it. But you know how that goes with CP....half the time your here and half the time your sleeping on the job LOL.
Wish my kids were close. It would help so much. But my youngest is in WI and my oldest is in TX so both are too far away. The youngest is thinking of coming home for his winter break but I'm not holding my breath for that one to happen, if you know what I mean LOL. As the saying goes I raised my dishwashers then they left the nest LOL. But hubby bought me a house complete with an automatic dishwasher and still I complain about
the dishes as I'm not able to put them in there without killing my back.
Thanksgiving is on the 26th here in the states, so it'll be great to get with hubbys family and enjoy a bit of turkey YUM!!!!! Anyway better not make this post a long one or PA will thrash me LOL (just kidding PA smooches).
Hugsssss

I know where Pratt is but it is about
4 hours from me. I live in Junction City, it is right on I-70 between Topeka and Salina. I was born and raised here. My mother and step dad both suffer from Alzhiemers too and are in assisted living which is a good thing. I retired and was planning on taking care of them but with them both not remembering anything and getting up in the night doing the sundowners thing and with my in the hospital 26 weeks out of 52 the other siblings felt this would be better. I'm the only one that lives in town. Nice to meet you and hope to see you again soon.

Wow! How fantastic that I now have three buddies in KS!! Screaming, my doctor is in Wichita! Maybe we see the same PCP? ha ha
Cathy; I hear the northern part of KS gets alot more snow then we do down here in the south. That's sad about
your mom and dad but maybe its is for the best. My mother-in-law has not hit the sundowners part of the disease as of yet. It's really hard to keep her on task and she forgets alot but can remember 50 years ago. It's strange how the disease works in the brain and it too scares the crud out of me because I worry that my husband, whom I adore, will come down with this dilabating (sp) disease someday. Hubby's dad had a heart attack in his 50s and hubby worries about
that as well as he is overweight. But he's trying so hard to get his weight down, in fact he's down on the treadmill now as well as doing his strengthing excerses on the bowflex.
On a brighter note and this is for all my friends on HW...yours truly quit smoking yesterday night and I have now gone a whole day without a cig. I'm pretty proud of myself and Oh my hubby brought me home roses to mark the occasion!!!! I cried of course! I'm so emotional! The Chantix has really helped with the cravings as well as the crankyness. Now if I could just get rid of these stupid hot flashes that go along with menopause I'd be in control! ha ha ha.
Ohhhh and merry I did not forget ya hun. I LOVE Christmas, it is my fav holiday!!! I go all out with the decorations and hubby hates me cause I've always got a project for him to do he he. We do have a really nice artifical tree that we put up, but last year the lights went out on it and we had to buy a new on for this next Christmas....so I have a brand new 7 foot fir to decorate this year Yay!!!!
Hugsss my friends, meds are on board and its almost time for this chick to head for bed LOL.

Hey Scarred,
You should try contacting the local high school or boy/girl scout troops. Kids these days need service hours. You may find that you can get someone in that way. Kids will also work for way less money! Of course, you might have to watch them! ;)
I know when I was in high school I helped this lady (not disabled) who had a son with cerebral palsy. She was so busy with early intervention therapies, that she needed help with things like vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing tubs and the like. My girl scout troop sent her two girls a week for a couple of hours. It was fun! Her children were adorable; we played with them as we worked. Check with local churches as well. There are lots of options.

Hey Gretchen! I'm checking on a few things as we speak. Unfortunately hubby is now on winter hours which means his hours have been cut to 80 hours a pay period and that means tightening the belt for the next 4 months. We had a tough winter last year and I know its going to be another tough one this year, but we will make it through. Anyway I'm going to check around and see what I can find.
Hugssssssssssss
