I've been diagnosed with RA and am on 6 Sulphasalazine tablets a day plus steroids at the moment. I am hoping to go to New Zealand for two years on a Working Holiday visa. Does any one know how having RA and needing access to meds and blood tests would affect this? I have an appointment with my consultant earlier today, however he couldn't help.

|I would get as much information as you can about what drugs are available for RA before you leave, and also contact a rheumatologist in the city where you'll be living. They should be able to answer most of your questions. Maybe your current doctor can give you several months supply of your medication to hold you over in case it takes a while to get your medications over there. This sounds like an opportunity of a lifetime so go and have a wonderful time!|
Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2005 and rheumatoid arthritis in 1998. On Remicade since 2005 for both diseases. For UC tried sulfasalazine, Lialda, colazal and others which made me ill. Started 50 mg. Imuran July 2015. Use Bentyl, peppermint oil capsules and Gas-X which all help with various UC symptoms during a flare.

|Thank you for your reply and the advice :) I've made an appointment to see my normal doctor and hopefully I can get everything in place before I go. As you say, it's not an opportunity I want to miss out on! Thanks again!|
