I suffer from chronic pain.  After a recent appointment where I had to meet with another doctor at the practice because mine was on vacation, I was labeled as a drug seeker because I was asking for a new script. My prior script had been transferred across state lines, 3000 miles away, across the country and was inaccessible.  SO I had a valid script, with refillls, in an unreachable state.  My only option was to get a new script

I got to the doc's and this was the first time I met with this doctor, but I've been a patient of the center for all my life, 30 years.  I explained that the script had been transfered out of state because I traveled and now it can't be refilled.  She knew my doc was on vacation and that is why I was seeing her.  She checked my story out with the pharmacy and it checked out.  She wanted to cancel my transfered script, but I said no because I was planing on moving there and may ned a refil if I can't fid a doctor in time out there.

The doctor storms out of the consult without a word and labels me a drug seeker and puts it in big letters on the front of my chart.

5 months later, after this had blown over and it ad been some what cleared up, I was informed by the secratary on the phone (while making my monthly appointment) that I had been discharged from the practice.  From my understanding it is illegal for them to do this without sending a certified letter and giving you prior notice.

This led to months of HELL for me. Now the practice is saying that it was a simple "mistake" and they would be glad to take me back.  Is it because they are in hot water with not following procedure?

Wow! What a mess. Are you comfortable going back? I'd get in touch with your state dept of health or insurance commissioner. Whoever you have that you could talk to about this. If you have insurance they likely have a patient advocate who might answer the more legal part of these questions. Somewhere they got busted. Wouldn't hurt to go talk to the doc and ask what's going on and what her plan is for your future treatment. Then decide if YOU want to hire HER...not the other way around.
