I just had a doctor visit and had my hormone level tested.  As I suspected, I'm getting into menopause.
Do hormones--or the low level of them-- affect FM?  I have gotten so many new symptoms in the past few months, that it's hard to decipher whether it's the FM or menopause, especially regarding muscle soreness, etc.  Would appreciate any info on this. Thanks.

Luv, I don't want to scare you but my life fell apart when I started peri-menopause, LOL. First of all I was going through a lot of stress over a custody battle in the family which would have been more than enough on it's own to deal with. Then started having horrible anxiety out of the blue, which I'm sure was more related to the stress. That's when the fatigue started and the first aches and pains that I ignored. It's been a down hill slide since.
In other words you can't go by my life since I didn't go through peri-menopause by it's self so I really don't know. That was the beginning of fibro for me but since you already have it............
I do think I asked Sherrine this question one time.
luv and hugs

Luv, I didn't notice any difference when I went into menopause.  But, menopause was very easy for me.  I went from havng periods to not having periods in two months.  I did have some hot flashes, but that is to be expected.  I did not and do not take hormones now.  The fibro symptoms remained the same for me.

Hi Luv
Same here, I went through menopause pretty much to the "T" as Sherrine.  Periods just stopped.  Hot flashes, no hormone replacement treatment at all and no difference at all in any of my pain levels,  that was 5 yrs ago.

I'm soon to be 48 and if I don't stop soon...I'm gonna scream. No difference in the level of Fibro pain, however, it does create havoc with my Crohn's symptoms which in turn causes stress and you KNOW where I'm going with this! Endless cycle! They don't call me "broomhilda" for nothing you know!

I stopped fairly early with no hot flashes, etc. Doc looked over my history and decided to put me on HRT for a while. Not sure how long but I've not had any problems one way or the other.

Hello Luv,

I went from having a period to not overnight from a radical hysterectomy. I was on hormone replacement for a while, I hated it. I had no difference in my FMS either way. Except that I was just more miserable from the hot flashes and such. I don't think hormones have an affect on FMS at all from my experience. Hope this helps.

Tomorrow is another day......and it might be better!
