I need something on top of my mattress and was wondering if anyone had suggestions. When I look online they are all just advertisements for the one THEY want you to buy. My back, hips, neck hurt of course but I would love relief when I lie down.

Memory foam?

Wool?

Thank you.

Barb, I have a pillow top mattress but I still needed more comfort. My back is really bad from fibro and Ankylosing spondylitis so I need a posturpedic mattress for support but also softness because we all have the Princess and the Pea syndrome. 😳

I bought a foam egg crate topper at Walmart and put that on top of the mattress. It helped but still wasn't great.

I was on a trip to Hawaii and one of the hotels had a feather bed topper and it was heaven. I came home and headed to Bed, Bath and Beyond. They had feather bed toppers but you can't wash them so I bought a fiber bed topper that you can wash and it's every bit as good as the feather bed topper. It feels just as soft.

Soooooo...I have my pillow top mattress, then my quilted mattress cover, then my foam egg crate topper, then my fiber bed topper, and finally my sheets. I now have the needed support along with the needed softness. Ahhhhh...just perfect for me!

This isn't an expensive proposition. I have a king size bed but only sleep on one side so I bought a single sized foam egg crate topper and if I recall correctly it was around $30. The single size fiber bed was around $70 when I bought it quite a while back but you can use your 20% off coupon too so that helps. A $100 is cheap for a better night's rest.

By the way, I tried a Memory Foam topper and I was like the person in the commercial they used to have. I sunk in it and was pulling my back muscles to roll over and to get out of bed. Since it was a king size topper, I cut it in half and gave my daughter half for her bed...which she hated and threw away...and I put the other half on the other side of my king size bed. Well, when my dog and cat get on my bed they both want to sleep on the side with the fiber bed on it! 😂 That tells me something. They've got good taste and they're not too spoiled! 😂

When I stayed at a hotel for a while that had a hard bed, I bought an egg crate at Target, but I also bought a full sheet of 1" foam at Joanne's fabric. I don't know if they still sell full sheets there. I did have to get deep pocket sheets at Target, as well. They're nicer sheets are deep enough---the designer is some man whose name escapes me---Tom Something maybe?? Gosh don't trust me.

I forgot to say that someone I trust at myPatientMatch wrote that memory foam is toxic.

hello again. Well maybe you have decided what to buy already, but possibly this will be of interest to someone. It was posted in a mold avoidance group today. I think they are in a semi camping situation? Well, more "rustic" sleeping, without a regular bed, it sounds like.
---------------------
We got a 2" thick one, and we also got the cover for it. It was an investment, but it paid off for us...It's on top of the 3" latex pad we now sleep on, giving him 5". Notably, though, we had done a ton of detox before doing our final Sabbatical. So it didn't get "polluted" with toxic sweat like some people run into.

Rockon, can you please explain your post about foam being toxic? I have not heard this and am VERY interested as I have a foam matress.

I'm gonna take the easy way out and say google: Memory foam toxic. Possibly some is less toxic than others, and I have no idea how long any one company's memory foam might take to off gas, nor if they ever do finish off gassing. Sorry, I am not very helpful. Some really sensitive people just won't mess around, and only buy an all natural mattress. It's probably a smart way to go. I did not go that way, because of my back clearly liking the Stearns and Foster, but it may have been a foolish decision long term. I may have challenged detoxed systems, with the chemical exposures my body has had to go thru. Clearly I sleep like crap a lot of the time...Not always.

Plain latex is not the same as memory foam. You can buy natural latex foam, and my pillows are natural latex.

I am not having much thick ,just 1 inch memory foam guess. Its plush though bought from target on sale.

ITS ok but not good,I am looking for feather kind topper which feels more comfy then memory foam.

I do not have Eurotop or pillowtop mattress ,i guess that's better for fibro.

Have a firm mattress .

Sherrine... do your mattress toppers make you sweat? My memory foam seems to hold body heat.

Not generally. Occasionally I will have a night sweat but 90% of the time I'm fine and I believe those night sweats are from another problem...not my bed toppers. If it was the toppers causing the sweats I would have night sweats every night.

Hi Barb,
I use the NIKKEN Ultra KenkoPad mattress topper which contains numerous embedded magnets. 'Have used it for at least 10 years, & NIKKEN still sells them. (Even my cats love to lie on it!!) You would need to purchase it from a NIKKEN distributor, possibly from your area. The KenkoPad is extremely therapeutic and also every single day I wear magnets all over my back, placing them over the tender- & trigger-points. They work miracles & even much better then trigger point injections!
Hope you find what works for you.
Blessings,
Dede
