I have this feeling at the base of my rib cage. It feels like someone has a balloon in there and they are blowing it up. It is just inside the bottom of my rib cage and alternates between the right and left side. It doesn't exactly hurt (most of the time) but it is very uncomfortable. I have had many MRI's/ CT scans and x-rays and everything has come back "normal". A few years ago I went to the ER because it was so uncomfortable that I was not able to eat. They ran a thousand tests and said they thought it was my gallbladder. The tests didn't come back really bad but a little off. I agreed to have it removed. ( I would have agreed to anything at that point!!) That did not help and I still have this sensation. The last specialist I went to said " Well at least you know its not cancer because if it was you would be dead already!" That was the first and last time I went to him.

I know FM has symptoms associated with a feeling of swelling but no visual signs of it and was wondering if anyone else has felt anything similar.

Misty, have you tried Gas X (simethicone)? I get sensations like that and it can be quite uncomfortable but it actually is Gas/air in the intestines. I usually get it at night so I take a generic Gas X right before bedtime and it works. My gastro said I could have four a day as needed but I usually only need one a day. Just a thought....

I hope this works for you. We all swallow a little air when we eat and then add "gassy" foods like broccoli, onions. Cabbage, etc. and that can add more pressure in the intestines. I eat these things mainly for dinner so I take an extra strength simethicone (125 mg) gel cap as before bed...even if I don't have discomfort.

Sometimes during the day if I get pressure and even cramping, I'll take one gel cap and, if it isn't helping shortly, I'll take one more and that has always done the job for me. It's worth a try. It can't hurt you but could be the answer for you. Do let me know. I'm curious and nosey. 😂😂😂

Gastroparesis?

Posted By : Sherrine - 8/22/2017 1:39 PM
Cathy, with gastroparesis one would have nausea and vomiting so I don't think that's the case with Misty. Remember our mod Marlee? She had gastroparesis and had problems eating on top of nausea and vomiting and there were only a few things she could eat.
