My skin had had it rough since being diagnosed with lupus. Between an increase in varicose and spider veins (I'm only 22 so I assume its from the lupus?), hot skin to the touch, itchy skin, dry skin, you name it.

I've tried topical steroids as well as pretty much all basic brands of eczema relief cream (avenue, gold bond, eucerin, cruel, jergens).

Any suggestions on what worked for you? Also while I'm at it - any sunscreens you've found particularly good?

Just dawned on me that maybe coconut oil may be a good moisturizing solution..... shocked

Thank you smile

Sunscreen wasn't enough for me. I decided to invest in some clothing with built in sun protection. I buy them online at

Try using Corner Huskers lotion. It's very good.

You might want to consult a dermatologist - could be over-the-counter just isn't going to provide the relief you are looking for.

A very good tip I have given on the Sjogrens forum is bathe/shower in warm not hot water. Use Dove bar soap and after showering, while still wet apply oil (I use Johnson Baby oil) to arms, legs, back- any where that itches. THEN dry off with your towel. Yes oil gets on your towel, but applying oil while you are still wet locks the moisture into your skin. It helps me so much that I rarely skip the oil step. Love, Butterflake

Thank you guys!

I saw the corn huskers stuff at walmart today and grabbed it - if that doesn't work I may just suck it up and see a dermatologist.

My mom swears by Dove - now that I think about it, I'm wondering why I haven't tried it yet!

Thanks again everyone

Anything with ceramides is what I go for as my collagen is lost completely.
Lipids loss also is reason for using eucerin or cetaphil, cerave or curel.

All of 4 have helped my eczema and lupus flares.

I have both so its double trouble.

Aveeno is also another trusted one.
Anything hypoallergenic is a must.
A dermatologist cannot hurt ,they have access to better prescription cream.
Also keep hydrated as heat in cold weather can make it dry and itchy.
Good luck!
