I need to information about the sun. During the summer I love to go out on the boat and go fishing, I know that the sun isn't good for me. If I have to give it up I will but I really don't want to. Is sun block going to be enough. I already wear a hat when I am on the boat. The boat does have a top on part of the deck, there is a small cabin also. But I can't fish from there. What else can I do. Thank you for your help.

Hi Cat1259. There are lots of clothes, hats, etc that are SPF 50+ made by Coolibar, Kanu Surf, Wallaroo, and other companies that will cover everything. You may find them at their websites or on Amazon. Be sure to wear an SPF 50 hat and neck cover. Also frequently apply sunscreen to your face and hands. All of these fabrics are lightweight, some are made for swimming. Enjoy yourself! Love, Butterflake

Like butter flake said there are lots of sun protective clothing brands. I've had success with some of the more "natural" sunscreens - alba bontanicals especially. They are much more expensive unfortunately, but seem to work better for me.

I too fish often in the summer, and am newly diagnosed...So I will be watching this post like a hawk for other suggestions smile wishing you the best!

Another great alternative is a wash in product called Sunguard. It washes in 30 SPF to cotton clothing, I use it every year. Very affordable and you just throw it in with your laundry!!
