For this entire summer I have been between tired and exhausted. I have to pick and choose everything I'm going to do, right down to taking a shower. Some mornings I have to talk myself into getting out of bed. I'm so far behind. I also have kidney disease. My kidneys are down to 40%. I only found out about the kidney disease a year ago and the SL E in feb. Am I suppose to feel this tired. Picking out what I'm going to be able to get done that day. Even showering? Does anyone else feel like this? How do I explain this to my family? My grandchildren? I'm 57 . Is it supposed to be this hard?

Yes, I can relate. There was a time when I was only up and doing stuff for about 4 hours a day. Part of it is due to your kidney disease, too, which I didn't have.
What is your treatment regime? Is your rheumy aware of how fatigued you are and doing anything to help control your disease?
One of the things that helped me sounded really weird when my rheumy proposed it -- he gave me Trazodone to help me sleep! "Help me sleep?", I said, "All I do is sleep!!" But somehow it gave me "deep restorative sleep", which apparently I had been missing and I ended up with more energy overall.
Also you should probably be eating in ways that help your kidneys function, but I don't really know details on what that would be.

Dust mite, I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I'm right there with you right now and for the past several months. It's awful. But I have had many periods in the past 9 yrs that were so much better. Still trying to sort out whether this is just flare or advancement, or mild kidney issue or other problems. I'm 63 and leave next week traveling out of state when our daughter gives birth to her 3rd child. She has two boys already, 1.5yrs and 3.5yrs and I honestly do not know how I'm going to manage that level of activity and chaos.
It really is important to report specifics to your rheumy - "fatigue"has a wide range of meaning. So examples of how its impacting your life are relevant and important - especially with kidney involvement. Ask he/she for help.
Good luck and all the best!
