The first, candia, I seem to have a 'furry mouth' and it 'flares' if I eat white bread, honey, sugary things. Within half an hour of any of these my mouth goes AWOL and tells me to 'clean it out' this I usually do with a toothbruch. any ideas of how to deal with candida?
Secondly, the rheumy suggests that I be continually tested for Lupus and disconnective tissue disorder - how often do you think he might have in mind to have bloods and here in Ireland they do one at a time so which do you suggest I have done? The ANA? I think GP says that they will only continue testing once the ANA tests positive.

I have labs done every 2 months, once at my local lab to check because of the Imuran I take, the next time is at my appt with the rheumy which I see every 4 months. My rheumy has never checked my ANA because I had several positive before seeing her, that's not something needed to "monitor" lupus only to help diagnose it.
Sorry I know nothing about Candida, sounds terrible though (((( hugs )))))). Take care and keep us updated on how you are doing.

My twin sister has Candida. It's part of the "auto immune" world, I think. What you are describing is "Thrush" Eating sugar or any refined/bad carb is going to feed the Candida. There are drugs you can take like Nystatin and Diflucan and there are natural remedies like ThreeLac (I highly recommend this), garlic (real raw garlic), grapefruit seed extract and many others. An important part of treatment is diet. Some diets even eliminate fruit due to sugar content, some allow one piece per day. You need to stick with lean meats and lots of veggies. Processed foods, sugar, sugar substitutes and any "white" foods are definatley a problem.
I take two ThreeLac (you can google it and buy it on line, although it's kind of expensive) everyday to avoid yeast because I am on long term antibiotics. The ThreeLac works wonders. Most people with severe Candida issues change their treatment every three months to keep them effective and to make sure all types of yeast are addressed.
When treating yeast you may experience a herxhiemer or die off reaction - this will cause you to feel ill but it means the treatment is working. As the candida is cleared up you will feel better and better.
I am wondering if my yeast levels are up because I've had major sugar cravings for two weeks, which is a sign of yeast, too.
While most doctors will recognise "Thrush" many/most don't believe in "systemic yeast" and don't know how to treat it. If your Dr. doesn't know how to treat it (or may not treat it long enough) you may be better off googling Candida support groups and learn from them
My sister had her yeast almost under control on her own but then she needed to go on antibiotics, too, which of course increases the yeast issue.
I wish you the best. This is becoming almost a common problem these days, unfortunately

thanks stacie and twino. Oh there is another pair o twins on this healingwell forum! Stacie, re the tests, primarily we have to get a dx first for lupus of dtd so I suppose with me its the ANA to aimfor first and if that is raised then go for the rest.
Thanks twinofdar for the info on the trush. Yes, its great advice and I really will have to tackle it. It is getting me down, big time and making matters worse.
