Hi, I am Lisa. I am new here. I have suffered with migraines since my early teens(I am 41 now). I had them pretty bad when I was younger..went to a neurologist, he put me on Inderal and I had all kinds of scans, eeg's etc.
Then, they got better til I got married at 20. Then, just regular emotional/menstrual problems brought them on. I was put on Midrin then. I got through fine with that. As I got older..they became less frequent, and then, if I caught them at the beginning(I ALWAYS have the aura first...that was my signal it was coming), otc meds helped.
Well, about two weeks ago..I got a migraine..and a pulled muscle in my shoulder...and now..I have had it straight for 8 days! I have been miserable...I wake up with left sided temple/headache excrutiating pain..and nausea and vomiting.
I went to the doctor..she sent me for a ct scan. It was normal. She put me on Hydrocodone and Imitrex. I still am having she sent me back to my neurologist. I went yesterday and he did more tests, eeg...etc...and he thinks I am having a reoccurence with migraines/tension headaches and brain stem spasms. All my tests were normal. He put me on Butalbital. I haven't taken it before. I have good days and bad days..but I am still waking up with a is usually better by early afternoon...but then I feel exhausted. I am missing work, and pretty much incapacitated in the morning hours. I found this website/messageboard and it has helped me tremendously. I hope this new medicine works..but I don't want to get dependent on it. I don't want rebound headaches. He thinks it was caused by either my allergies or emotional stress..and it will work itself out.  I go back in two weeks to see him. Have any of you taken this old drug, Butalbital before? I have been thinking about getting some Feverfew to take too. I heard it works pretty good in some people. I hope this gets better soon..I cannot take it much longer. It is so good to come here and read others' posts about their history with migraines. No one understands until they have suffered through it.

Hello Lisa and welcome to the forum. I understand what you are going through. I wanted to tell you that I take Feverfew and it has worked very well for me. But if you take Feverfew you should also take Ginger along with it because feverfew can make you nausiated. I take one pill of Feverfew and one of Ginger everyday and my pain is gone most days. I only get a tinge of pain once in awhile but nothing like it had been. I know everything works different for other people but you can give it a try just wanted to let you know how it worked for me. Take care to pain free days and nights.

Thanks for the welcome Ashley! I went back to work last night..took a pill before I went....and I didnt start hurting til around 5:30 this usual time I start hurting when I wake up on the nights I don't work. That is so weird. has been a dull, bearable headache today..guess it could be worse.
I was wondering...does anybody take any special vitamins, like B complex.and does that help? I have heard it can help headaches...just wondering if anyone had tried vitamins..and which ones worked.

Hello Lisa,

Sorry to hear that you have been having this problem this long.   I just found this site and I will try to help a lot of you out there with different problem.   I am a Special Massage Therapist, an Acupressurist, a Reflexologist an a Dislocated / Pinched Nerve Specialist( Alternative Medicine ).

Fisrt, I would suggest that you see an Osteopath and second, I have an accupressure technique for you to follow.

Until you see the Osteopath, do this acupressure technique, every time you ahve that problem, which I am giving you now as follow: " use you thumb and index finger of your right hand and place your thumb between your index bone and thumb bone, on top of your hand, where they join in you hand and your index finger opposite your thumb inside your left hand.   On the soft tissue between both thumb and index.  Do not dig in with your thumb and index.   Instead, use both pads and apply pressure with your thumb on top and equalize it with your index finger underneath.   Keep this pressure on till your headache is gone.   Once you have done this to your left hand, you could do it to your right hand too.   Depending on how long you had your Headache / Migraine, it will take up to 15 minutes per hand.   You could do 10 min. the left hand and 10 min. your right hand ".

Good Luck
