Has anyone's migraines gotten better by going to a different side of the country? I live in Washington, DC and have been experiencing severe daily migraines for over 2 and a half years and have tried EVERYTHING. I recently went to CA for vacation and the headaches went away! Once I was back on the plane to DC, the migraines returned. I know for a fact that weather and barometric pressure is one of my main triggers. I get severe migraines before and during storms.
I am considering moving to another state if this continues. Has anyone dealt with weather pressure and different states before?

I want to move to New Mexico. Husband is reluctant to say the least.
Neuro says only a chance of pain staying away.
Interesting though, when we went to Baja and San Fran for vacations, I had
very minimal pain levels.
I am scared of earth quakes so New Mexico is my choice.

I live in Milwaukee where the weather constantly fluctuates. I have spent time on both coasts hoping for relief. No dice. Two places I have visited in the past yielded great headache relief: Estes Park, CO, and Highlands, NC. They are both at high altitudes. This factor may direct my next steps.

I had awful migraines when I lived on the east coast. They have been much more manageable on the west coast. Though, there have been times of ups and downs. I wouldn't be surprised if it is related to the pressure and humidity. In some respects, I have been lucky because my migraines are always closely tied to hormones and I have had good insurance on the west coast so I've been able to see specialists and work through the hormone issues to keep things in check. That may have more to do with my success than the geographical location...

I'm with you imorgan. I have been getting almost daily migraines for three years. I live near Detroit. Big triggers are cold fronts, high winds, rain, storms, clouds. guess what? We have that almost every other day here. I feel the weather a day or two before it hits, so even if we have a bright, sunny day, something worse is always around the corner, meaning I rarely have a pain-free day.
Anyway, just got back from a Caribbean cruise out of Miami and enjoyed eight glorious migraine-free days. Not a twinge, not a pinch, nothing. Even with a bad thunderstorm and downpour the day we left. We have gone on a cruise out of Miami every March since my migraines became chronic, and this is the third straight year I have not had a migraine while on vacation!
So, what's the difference? Why do even the storms not bother me there? That is the million dollar question, and I'd love it if I could find the answer. And, yes, if the newest migraine plan I'm trying doesn't work, I will have no choice but to seriously consider moving.

I am on the East Coast and have horrible migraines! Love this topic. Headed to Hawaii soon and was wondering about this very same question. If I can move and get relief, I will do it in a heartbeat.
