If I sit or remain in a certain position too long, it is hard to get back up and/or move--I get really stiff.  Sometimes it is painful when I start walking again.  Can this be part of arthritis or maybe just something else?
Thanks everyone!  :-)

Yes, it can be a symptom of come forms of arthritis. Not knowing your age, it is hard to speculate. I have seen you post on the Crohn's forum. I am sure you are aware that there are several types of arthritis that go along with CD. In addition, osteoarthritis [OA] becomes an issue for some people as they age. OA is a "wear and tear" type of arthritis. Athletic people also are more prone to OA do to their increase risk for injury and the repetitive nature of some sports movements.

If you suspect you have arthritis, a rheumatologist is the best medical professional to evaluate you. Make an appointment or get a referral if necessary.

BTW, CCFA has a great educational brochure about the arthritic conditions some people with CD get.

Thanks Ides and Teddy!

If it helps any I am 31.  My grandfather had RA and it started when he was in his 30's.

I have had Episcleritis for months now, off and on (posted stuff about it on the Crohn's board) and when I first got it, they tested me for RA.  I think they have tested me for nearly everything that can cause the eye  Maybe it will take a while for something to show up--which is frustrating in the meantime.  sad

Anyhow I go see my Internist today because she wants to discuss in person what was discussed at my GI's appointment last week.  I will ask her about the stiffness as well as, I get shooting pains in several joints that come and go.  Can that be from arthritis as well?

All of this stuff going on is so weird.  I honestly was so healthy and fine for so long that it is hard to face all this weird and painful stuff going on!
