Does anyone know what this means?  I had an x-ray a few months ago that came back with minor degeneration in the thoracic spine and I just had one this week that came back with hypertrophic degeneration in the lumbar spine.  I think this just means some degeneration with some swelling but I am not sure and would appreciate any thoughts you all might have.  I currently have a dx of peripheral arthritis that is linked to crohn's disease.
Thank You

I believe that hypertropic degeneration is another name for osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease [DJD]. DJD is also sometimes called degenerative disc disease when it involves the discs in the spine. I have DDD in my lumbar and sacral spine. Mine is age related and likely more advanced due to my anhylosing spondylitis.
