My wife was recently dx'd with RA and they put her on MTX, Enbrel, tapering off pred.  She is 26 years old.

She is having trouble with her breathing and they are taking her in for a chest Xray on Wednesday.  Could any of these drugs she is on have an athsmatic effect or maybe make her prone to bronchitis or pneumonia?  Any one here have any of these issues?  Thanks in advance for your time.

MTX can cause trouble breathing and/or a dry cough. Enbrel's black box warning includes an increased risk for latent tuberculosis activation. Known side effects to the anti-TNFs including Enbrel are increased occurance of upper respiratory infection.

Strange that you should ask about breathing problems.  Since I started on the Humira I have had a bit of shortness of breath. It somes and goes.   Went for a chest xray and stess test yesterday but haven't gotten results yet.   Also have notice that I get a wicked cough for a few days after I inject.

She got her chest Xray and waiting for results. She has been on Enbrel for about 3 weeks now and seems to have the same symptoms as you Alicat. It is usually a couple of days after she injects.

Let me know how she makes out with her chest xray.  I always assume no news is good news but think if I don't hear from my doctor in a few days, I'll call him.
