I am going to be camping for two weeks this summer and my Humira shot is due in the second week of my camping.  I am a rustic style camper and won't have access to a refrigerator.  I am sure I could store it at the camp office or store fridge, but am not sure about keeping it at a proper temperature for the two days we will be travelling to our camp spot.  Would it be drastic to go one extra week before taking the shot and then going every two weeks there after?  I have PA and the drug was really helping for about 4 or 5 months but lately it doesnt seem to be helping as much. Any suggestions?

I know from my fridge breaking down that humira can only handle being at room temp for2 hours before it goes off!!! So you would have to travel with it on ice and keep replacing the ice until you get where you're going. What a hassle!!! If you're already not feeling that the humira is not working as well you will be shocked what happens if you miss it for a week, I had to keep missing doses becuse of infection and I flared terribly after 4 days. My rheumy reckons you should be able to miss a dose if you are completely under control with it, she has upped my mtx dose to give me that window. I'd talk to your rheumy about it, theroretically you should be able to miss a dose as it builds up a half life in your system...I'm probably just confusing you, ring your rheumy, golitho.

I think you should ring the Humira people and ask their advice. We do have a person on the Crohn's forum who travelled with his Humira in an ice pack, and he ended up over-cooling and destroying it and needing to get replacement doses.
