I am still trying to work out if I have RA or not......pain on waking and walking of course, and after being on foot for a while. But when the joint isnt in use ( my hands and feet) the limbs feel like they do when I have flu- really achy and sore.Is this similar to anyone else?
Tried reflexology today- ouch.

Yes if I am inactive I actually feel worse. I tend to move around more so I dont cease up. Have you seen a Rheumy yet for a diagnosis?

Hi I'm the same as Jo, get very stiff from lack of movement, often have to hobble around before my knees, feet and hips loosen up again. Hot shower helps a lot in the morning. But sometimes they just ache and sometimes I'm hot and swollen, sort of throbbing, I can feel the heat coming off that particular joint. Usually after overdoing it! Yeah reflexology really hurts, I've only managed it once. Hydro therapy or aqua therapy has helped me plus my splints for rest when I'm over doing my wrists. I'm completely digressing.
Are your symptoms symmetrical? Have you gone to a rheumy? Have you had all the blood tests and x-rays? Have you been on anti inflammatorys with no improvement? All these factor in to diagnose RA. Good luck with it and let us know how you're going, golitho

I'm not sure if I have RA either but I find that if I don't keep moving, my pain intensifies when being sedate. I will get really stiff but once I get going the stiffness gets better. My knees especially lately. If I just sit there my knees burn and throb.

It's a fine line for me. If I move too much I feel horrible if I sit too much I feel horrible.

I just have to really be aware of what I'm doing. Days of golf and dodge ball have been over for me for a year and a half. I'm hoping I'll find something that will let me go back to the things I love. :-)

The best example I can give is upon waking..I hurt all over, an achy and stiff feeling and my fingers (knuckles) on both hands are swollen/tight and stiff to the point that I cannot bend them. It takes a few hours of being up and around before some of the stiffness and pain subsides and usually a hot shower will help with some of the stiffness. However, I usually have some stiffness/pain during the day no matter what.
