Hello all,

I would like to know if anyone can help me out with this trigger finger problem and if they too suffer from this too?

When I turned 50 (3 years ago) I started getting trigger finger in my right hand ( 2 middle fingers). As the past 3 years have past and I now have trigger finger in both hands and in every single finger.

My doctor has diagnosed me with arthritis but not diagnosed with RA Arthritis. I asked my doctor why I have trigger finger in all my finger and all he says is it just happens to some people as they age?!?!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sabrina

Hi, my arthritis started in my pinky finger right hand then went into my other hand, then spread into my whole hands ...and so on.  So maybe a second opinion?  I am for sure not a doctor, and still learning about RA but I was told it can start in your hands and when its in both (symetrical like you have said happening to you) that its a good sign that it could be RA.  Just wait a bit I am sure others will see your post and they may be able to help you more than me.

I am sorry you are hurting and wish you well.  But maybe you should seriously consider another opinion? and well obviously you are doing research on your own which is good too!

Have a good day. ttys

Hi TayIsa,

 Thank you for your reply!

Do you have trigger finger in both hands too? Is this how your RA started?

My first symptom was waking up with clenched hands, took a couple of hours before they'd straighten out. It's definitely an indicator for RA, so some blood tests (RF, Inflammatory Markers, etc) would be a good starting point.

take care

I had trigger finger in my right thumb. I dont know if that is related to arthiritis or not but I do have arthritis in the same thumb. I had a clicking in the joint of my thumb and it would stick and be very painful to use or move. The surgery was easy and worked very well.

Me again with an alternative...if you can find it use a magnetic ring. Avon used to sell them but lately all I can
find is hemitite (which is magnetic but kind of fragile for my job). The magnets releases something in the joints
to help with the pain. If you have it in your whole hand use a magnetic bracelet. I did for quite a few years, but
with my wonderful RA I never know where or how long it will strike. I've had it affect one joint for years before
moving on and on other occasions I'll hurt for a few days. I've had this for nearly 50 years and have tried many
things before finding what works for me. I finally got tired of prescription drugs and there long term side effects
and have gone as herbal as possible. If you're young try the alternative first as the drugs will give you dry mouth
and eventually rot your teeth, which unfortunately, I never knew until I lost all my back ones. It can cause
peridontal disease.

I know you posted this in August but it just caught my eye. I have trigger finger in my main three fingers of both hands. It's not that bad but bad enough that I have to sort of "snap" my hands to try to straighten them. I have an undiagnosed arthritis at this time. The docs are thinking OA but are unable to find any damage to my joints as of yet nor do my blood tests come out conclusive, however I do have a positive ANA. I've had cortisone injections in my fingers to help with the pain and it helps tremendously. Btw, I am 40 years old but the trigger finger started in my 30's.

My RA hit like a freight train in every joint over night.

My husband has trigger finger and had surgery for it but does not have RA.

Lately I find certain times doing certain things my finger joints will catch and stick. I kind of have to pop them out. This is not always. Not sure if I would call it trigger finger.
