I am thinking about
Yesterday was not good.
Lets start out with this one- First question he asked was "How do you feel since our last visit- Better-Same or Worse?" I said I would say a little worse. We ended the visit with him saying OK well given the way everything is lets see you back here in 3 months instead of 2 like we have been. Still get your blood work every 2 months!
Here's the rest of it.
I failed at his important list of questions- I don't have extreme morning stiffness, I do everything I need to do, my pain doesn't cause me to be unable to sleep (didn't matter that I said that on a daily basis I had pain levels that fluctuate between 3-5 during the day and are 7 at night).
He looked at my hands and feet without comment. Moved my joints around and felt them to be moving properly. Checked out my abdomen.
He proclaimed he sees no disease activity what so ever.
I said can you hear this? I stood up and did a couple of shallow knee bends and it sounds like they are full of crinkly paper. That's very common he says- it's nothing. OK I said because I noticed it when I was exercising. Oh he says wonderful you are exercising its the best thing for you. Yes I said- but I do have pain during it and wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do-also afterward I am so tired at times that I have to go straight to the couch and take an hour nap! Well as long as you arise refreshed he says. Oh he says I see you are on Toprol- (BP medicine) That is a known drug that causes fatigue, Ask your GP if you can take something else. Well I said- I've been on it for 10 years and didn't notice fatigue before. Well he says when did you notice it? Since I've had RA I said. Oh- well you don't snore do you? Well actually I do. Well mention that to your GP too- you don't fit the profile as you are not overweight or have any thickness around the neck but perhaps you stop breathing during the night which is causing you fatigue.
How have you been doing with your drinking he asked? (Weary puts hand behind back and crosses fingers when she does not mention the one binge) I have stopped for the 2 months I said- but I am not happy. Well that is good. I said you see when I am told that I absolutely CANNOT do something- it does something to me- it really bothers me. Heh heh he says. I know I really need the MTX- I remember what happened to me when I had to go off for that infection. Yes he says. So tell me if I decide I don't want to refrain is there something else you can put me on? Oh of course. (Doesn't elaborate) Well like what? Well there is Humira- yeah but that didn't work for me when I took it WITH MTX. Yes, yes well there are plenty of other TNF's you could try. Orencia for one or Rituxan. I asked if I would be stopping the MTX cold to go on the other drug. Oh no he said- we would have to taper you off while you are on the new drug. You would not be able to drink for at least another 4 months.
So he says- you would try and different drug just so you can drink? I said you know I am not a DRUNK- I am and have always been a social drinker and not being able to have a drink makes me not feel like myself! Oh of course not he says- hand on the door knob. We-ll see you in three months.....see beginning .
