Hi Weary, I managed to get down to 1 mg of pred which was quite amazing. More pain but I sort of adjusted myself to it but I started to get my migraines again. I just couldn't cut the dosage anymore, .5mg did nothing for me and I was in too much pain. Anyway chatted to the GP she said stay on 1 mg for months and then try cutting it.
Went to see my rheumy for my humira script refill and she was amazed I'd made it to 1 mg and flatly stated don't go there when I suggested cutting it anymore. She also said the cholesterol wouldn't kill me (7.7) and out of control RA was farmore damaging to my heart than cholesterol! So that surprised me. The GP convinced me that I would die if I didn't do something about the cholesterol.
Anyway talked on about migraines and she said the stress of more pain and more inflammation is probably causing them!
So long and short of it all. We can't win!
Less pred, more inflammation , pain and migraines, more pred higher cholesterol, thin skin, masked symptoms of bad teeth, more weight... need I go on.
Anyway, talked to a nurse and she suggested going up to 1.5 or 2 mg days I'm working or every second day and see how that goes. So thats what I'm currently trying. So pred is slightly higher.
I just worked, 3 days straight and I am wrecked. SOOO TIRED.
But I feel better mentally being on a lower dose. I think it is worth all the pain, I just hope I hang in there and don't flare.
So that was a pretty long winded explanation... Feet/hands/wrists are my main probem.
So pleased to hear your son paid up. How are you? Hows your flare going?
Best wishes, golitho
