Yes, what your 2nd rheumy doc said is true, once you have one auto immune it's not uncommon at all to have others, I have asthma, fibro, gerd, sjogren's , sero negative RA and inflammatory RA. Many of us on here have several auto immune disease, so you are not alone.
So very sorry for what you are going through.
It's also, not uncommon to have a separate pm doctor (Pain Management=pm) Some RA doctor's even refer hard cases out to pain management, I have a pain management doctor. So ask your RA doctor if he can treat your pain and if not then ask for a pain management referral.
Lyrica is a newer medication for nerve pain which might help you it's worth a try.
I'm also very medication intolerant so for my pain all I can tolerate is Norco and a muscle relaxer, due to the asthma I have to have two separate strenghts on my muscle relaxer...muscle relaxers can effect the lungs and depress the respitory system so I have to have the two separate doses or my asthma flairs
Keep hope in that you will find something to work good for you, many many prayers and well wishes...
