Unfortunately not real well for me. Before Christmas my wife was sick. Running fevers, pain in her abdomen etc.. Got her into the ER and they found her gallbladder was infected and needed to come out but she was so sick they wouldn't do the surgery for 4 days. She had to stay in the hospital with no food or water except via IV and it was hell for her and for me as well.
I took care of the kids and tried to work off and on but the stress of it made me really sick. I wasn't sleeping, my stomach was starting to hurt because of what I thought were ulcers due to all the NSAIDS over the years. RA was flaring up also and I was just a mess.
Long story short; she got the surgery and got out. 3 days later I ended up in the ER 3 days before Christmas myself. Turned out the so called ulcers that the same ER had told me I had 1.5 years ago were not ulcers after all. I had an inflamed gallbladder myself and it was overactive and dumping bile into my stomach which was causing all the pain. The surgeon told me that they overlooked it because typically it affects men who are overweight. I lost a ton of weight last year because of my flare so they just assumed it was the NSAIDs. I had my gallbladder removed and my stomach has been fine ever since.
Now, because I was running around with an infection in my gallbladder for so long my RA was kind of calmed down a bit. I think because my immune system was busy trying to fight off the gallbladder problems it just didnt mess with my joints as much. Now that its gone my RA has been plaguing me again big time.
I felt horrible. Not only does Karol have to deal with my RA and stomach issues. She can't even get sick without me literally falling apart. I felt really guilty over it.
At least I can take ibuprofren again though
Hang in there BadDay. I hope he feels better soon or gets his butt in to see the Doctor!
