I have arthritis in my lower back and the weather really effects it. Is there anything I can do to prevent waking up and feeling like an eighty yr old lady in the mornings?

tongue  Oh boy!  I'm saying the same thing myself!  Welcome to HW.  The weather (rain fronts coming in) is setting me into flares all month.  One's worse than the other, and another one is coming.
What meds are you taking to control/help the arthritis?
Is it OA or RA?
I hate that there is no sure way to prevent feeling that way in the morning and all day.
Sometimes sleeping on a foam insert on your mattress will help support the lumbar.
Also, some gentle stretching in bed before you get out of it.  Some heat from a heating pad.
There are topical patches that provide relief for back pain for up to 8 hours @ the drugstore, there's tons to choose from.
A back support is good to wear during the day.  The thing that kinda looks like a girdle!  Keeps everything aligned and reduces pressure.
Having your legs elevated can reduce the lower pain in the back and pressure.
I'm on a slew of RA meds, but they still do not provide enough relief as I would like.
It's a bummer as I'm sure you know.
What is your treatment that you're currently on??
Write back soon. Take care

Hi! Welcome to Healing Well... Erin gave you some very good advice... are you taking anything for your pain now? I know some of the other members take Aleve, which is good for minor pain, just be careful it can cause stomach problems... let us know how you are doing.... - Duck

Thank you all for the helpful tips! Actually my arthritis is from a car wreck I had 3 yrs ago. I suffered several injuries that put me the hospital for 2wks. My biggest issue now is that I have arth. in my lower back and I had fractered one of my disk and broke my hip. I know.. OUCH! The cold weather is very hard on me. I wake up feeling like an eighty yr old lady! lol I dont look it but sure feel like one! I've been looking into getting a temp. bed.. but they're very expensive. But they are suppose to last a long time. Thanks again for the warn welcome and tips!
