Hello from England smile

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and recently have been feeling a continuous internal vibration feeling and sometimes the feeling of electric shocks in my hands and feet.
I have had a blood test for thyroid , diabetes etc and an xray on my neck but nothing is wrong.
I am finding it hard to sleep at night .

Does anyone else suffer from this problem ?

Sounds like fibromyalgia. Check out the forum here and talk with them.

Hi Alice,

Thanks for your reply.

The vibration is all over , from toe to my jaw. It's like the vibration when you sit in a car with the engine running , or if you put your hand on a fridge or your PC , it feels like that . It is not painful and nothing shows outwardly, no tremors. If I'm busy , I don't tend to notice it but it is still there.

I was diagnosed with RA in 1993 and Im now taking Enbrel and MTX ,

I have seen a RA consultant at the hospital and he thinks it is cervical myelopathy so they will do more nerve conductive tests and maybe an MRI .

catsanddogs, I know what you are talking about! This happens to me just as I am waking up! It's usually in the upper body but sometimes it's the whole body. I have no idea what it is really but my rheumy also said it might be fibromyalgia. I don't know but I get it and sometimes it goes away. It's annoying. I have RA and Sjogrens.

Hi Jean ,
Thanks for your reply. smile

It's good to hear from someone else who has this though I'm sorry you suffer from it .
I'm glad my Consultant is taking this seriously as its a strange thing and I was worried people would think I was making it up .

I have Sjogrens syndrome too . I take methotrexate and Enbrel .
I have not been diagnosed with fibromyalgia but I do have many of the symptoms.

some of our symptoms can get really strange and we have so many. It seems like there is rarely a day that something isn't wrong-sad That gets really frustrating! And it seems like auto immune diseases like the company of other auto immune diseases.

We do seem to have a few autoimmune illnesses in our family!

I've managed to avoid the thyroid and diabetes issues so far though I have neurosensual hearing loss and tinnitus which I believe could be autoimmune too.

I have experienced this in the past! It's really uncontrollable. The first time it happened its was very uncomfortable and just strange! I freaked out! My rheumy told me it was fibro! It's really frustrating when you have so much going on and then a new pain or sensation comes up and makes you wonder sometimes if you're just loosing it! I really feel that once you get a diagnosis of any autoimmune disease, there's always something new to follow!
Just a day or two ago I started having that vibration hit me and the next thing you wa flare! Oh well you get use to it but it doesn't mean you can forget the pain much less the weird vibration.

Hi Glea,

I'm lucky that's it's not painful but it is very annoying at times especially at bed time .
If I keep busy I'm not always aware of it but I find that when I'm tired or ill , it's harder to cope with and I've had a few "make it stop moments" !
I'm seeing my rheumy at the beginning of May, he wrote a letter to my GP saying they may do an MRI scan .

I hope you are feeling better after your flare up . smile
