Hi Diamonds,
That sure doesn't sound typical for RA. Maybe gout? It's a good thing you're seeing doc. They are going to likely take some blood and run some tests. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Diamonds you need to get the swelling looked at as that can have many different causes, the walking on marbles sounds familiar as I often complain about walking on stones , my podiatrist recommended shoes from athletes foot shoe store called sketches (not sure if I spelt that right) but they are worth checking out or Any shoe with padded cusioned inner soles

I said the same thing to my Rheumy about 18 years ago. Mine were from RA. My PT at that time was shocked that I could walk in sock feet. I had a high pain tolerance. I tried many shoe inserts from stores and different shoes which helped some. My feet kept getting worse though since my meds were not working. I finally got a prescription from my Rheumy to get proper orthotic inserts and they did a perfect job. They helped my feet a lot and still do. I hope that you find the answer for you AND relief.

What happened with the Dr, Diamonds?
I had bursitis in one foot related to RA. It was certainly a distinct, hard and painful lump beneath the first metatarsophalangeal joint.
An orthotic from a podiatrist didn't much help, and instead built up heat and pressure elsewhere on the sole of the foot. I then found for very soft soled shoes, which have been better for me. It has persisted how several months, checked by rheumatologist and confirmed by ultrasound.
RA. Subcutaneous Methotrexate, Hydroxychloroquine, Naproxen.

This is the same thing I experience every day in my feet. I have damage now from it in fact so don't ignore it even if it starts feelign better. I can't remember a time over the course of the last 5 years when I haven't had this pain, concrete is literally excruciating to stand on even in great shoes for 15 mins.

Hope you feel better, mine came and went for a long time in the early years.
