Hi I have been a bit quiet of late as been going thru some stuff
had a lot of increasing memory problems unable to find words can't seem to remember what I want to say typical of Alzheimer's
I also was thinking I might have MS or something with other things going on ,
I have been going to a neurologist and they did a spinal tap (lumbar puncture) which of course me being me I had problems with got Enormous Headache I was in bed 2 weeks straight as every time I stood up *Wham*

oh and just to add fun to the fire I have ruptured another disc in my lower back about L4/5 below where they did the spinal tap so I'm hobbling around with that

Anyway the eeg came back with issues the mri had some spots on it(Not cancer or anything bad just there) and the Lumbar puncture came back Clear they are thinking my problems are due to the Methotrexate ive been on it at least 10 yrs straight
and he asked if I "Really Needed " to take it
and funny thing was I had stopped taking it about 6 weeks ago when I had the lumbar puncture done as I was worried about infection and I noticed a flare in my RA so I was planning on restarting it that night when I got home

So I came home had a Long talk with hubby and decided I can live with pain but I Really Need my Brain so I Won't be taking it anymore I Know it helped me as before I started it I was in a wheelchair and now I can walk using a cane and only use scooter for distance But if it means I go back then I'm ok with that but the way I have been lately I can't handle that

And Scott007 I was thinking about what you said about your mom
so I'm off to get Vitamins to try to repair my brain the neurologist recommended some
and also to combat the RA, I am Still staying on All the other drugs just not the MTX

Hi BadDay,

I am sorry to hear about your recent developments. It is good that you get off the MTX, but you will need something else. Have you been taking the potato starch? If not, it is never too late to start repairing the colon. I distinctly remember your preference for natural remedies. Here is a quote from a the famous French writer/philosopher:

“The art of medicine consists of amusing the patient while nature cures the disease.” ― Voltaire

I suspect that there is widespread misconception regarding fiber. Potato starch and fiber are not the same. Most types of fiber are either very poorly fermented or not fermented at all by bacteria in the colon. Metamucil, from psyllium husk, is classified as a "soluble fiber" and is very poorly fermented. It may give temporary relief for constipation, but fixes nothing. I would even imagine that some types of fiber are probably irritating to the epithelium of the colon, especially for those with ulcerative colitis.
