Hello! I was diagnosed with RA this morning. Feeling a bit overwhelmed - its a lot of info to take in!

I work as cabin crew and have to get a yellow fever jab for work so the doctor said to wait until after ive had it to start taking my prescribed methotrexate.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this before? Yellow fever is a live vaccine so a bit unsure how long to wait after having it to take methotrexate...

Also a bit nervous about taking methotrexate in general! Any advice would be amazing!

Thanks smile

I would ask the doctor about the vaccine. I know several people who take Mtx without any issues, it made me nervous too. I didn’t stay on it long because I have a sensitive stomach and had diarrhea. I’ve heard that the injections have fewer side effects, but my doctor switched me to plaquenil instead, so I can’t comment on that. Keep in mind that the dose used for RA is much smaller than for chemo so many people tolerate it very well. Good luck!
