I have had gout attacks for the past 3 years with blood calcium levels of 6.8 - 8.0 usually treated with a steroid shot and prednisone. So 4 months ago i started 300mg allopurinol - i had a mild attack after 2 weeks which apparently can happen. Blood work 2 months ago showed calcium at 4.5. Got my second dose of Pfizer Covid Vaccine 3 weeks ago - IDK and now I have Gout symptoms in the usual right toe and now in my left ankle. Pretty bad - 3 x .6mg of colchicine yesterday and i think today will be the same. not sure if the effect of the vaccine is just a coincidence as maybe there is something related to triggering inflammation or why is my allopurinol not working with a good calcium level?

It may be a coincidence as gout can appear suddenly as you already know. Gout is caused by high uric acid levels, have you had recent labs done? What does your diet look like, there are some foods that will increase the uric acid. I would contact my dr on Monday.

Take care.

thx - diet is pretty good meat only at 4 meals per week and i am pretty careful otherwise. a few glasses of wine a week i know is not good for flushing out uric acid ( oops wrong reference to calcium levels in my post )but i would have thought at 4.5 level of uric acid - i should have been ok and that the allopurinol should be working .
