Hello there,
Normally I frequent the MS board but this is a question and concern for my mother-in-law.
She is 64 and has been dxd with PR and Osteo-Arthritis.  Her physical activity has always been zero.  She just came upon the PR about 6 - 8 months ago.  We had her in the ER with pain level to 8!  She had been taking tylenol arthritis and it wasn't helping.  Her PCM is an idiot and put her on 20mg of prednisone to start with, of course she blew up like a balloon.  Later on she started to see a Rhumatologist and he had got her down to 10mg a day then down to 5mg it was helping but she did not like the side effects.  Now 6 months later she is off Prednisone only for a week she was taking Tylenol Arthritis and her pain level is back up to an 8!
She is seeing her Rhumatologist on Thursday this week to seek futher pain management.  She's just going to have to be on Prednisone.  She has had Osteoporosis for years and now has the Osteo-Arthritis.  I am just worried about the effect of Osteo Necrosis from the prednisone.
Any advice on pain management would be helpful.  Does anyone know about this Methotrexate?  I see taking it once a week, is it a pill or injection?  I read taking it with prednisone may help her situation.
Thanks for the help.  :-)
