I have sacroiliitis and had my right SI joint injected in September after suffering months of worsening SI pain. I never knew how much pain I had been in until it was taken away! Relief was wonderful. The shot was done using a xray guided technique. There was only a momentary slight discomfort. I was not sedated for mine but I was told that they do sedate some people. I have had lots of joints injected and never flinched so they decided not to sedate me.
Sacroiliitis is one of the signs of AS. People with inflammatory bowel diseases are at greater risk to get this than the general population.
I hope your injection brings you as much relief as I received!
