JeanFour, My mother had the dry eye with constant tears. There were always tears running down her face. The optomologist confimed "dry eye" diagnosis. On the other hand..mine were as dry as popcorn.. The four 1000mg fish oil I take a day helped with the dry eye and I am not constipated as often. I take 4 fiber capsules before I go to bed and drink on 8oz glass of water. Yes, you will be up for a bathroom trip...but things are much better in the morning. I also put eye drops in my eyes just before shutting them to go to sleep. This helps me and it helped my Mother. Hope this helps.

I have been experiencing chronic constipation for a few years now and usually coffee helps but there are times where nothing helps. No laxative, no suppository or juice or food. I have been using an enema the last couple of times to help get things out but today the fluid didn't come out. It has been 3 hours now and still no fluid. Could I be so dry that my intestine absorbed it??

Welcome to our forum Newbies. Sjogren's can effect the colon in many ways, but since I'm having a rotten lupus flare today I'll have to read my Sjogren's book and get back to you tomorrow. BTW, I'm a pro at SS and colon issues. Love, Butterflake

Hi Everyone. I just finally finished reading this thread. I gotta say y'all have lots of solutions, but that's not surprising since constipation is so common. For years I had terrible problems with diarrhea. Both my GI doc and my internist recommended Align probiotic. I noticed someone mentioned probiotic yogurt- same thing. To my knowledge Align is the only probiotic that had clinical trials which proved its effectiveness with regularity. So after taking it 2 weeks my diarrhea ended and after several months I now monitor my body closely for constipation. If I feel constipation coming on my docs recommended doscusate sodium 100mg twice daily (stool softener) and bisacodlyl suppositories 10mg, both available OTC. Of course I try to resolve the problem with diet first, but I continue to take Align daily. Love, Butterflake

Lactulose is an Rx and works great.....I drink way more water then the average person and I still have to take this to help me. my GI Dr. gave me this script and said it was safe enough to take for the rest of my life .

YES......Sjogrens can cause severe constipation. I don't go on my own. Enema and magnesium liquid ( the mag must be professional liquid grade and refrigrated).
