Morning all, wishing you a good day.
I have been searching through the posts and find that nausea and tummy problems are not the most prevalent posts. Except for me.
From what I have researched GI issues are associated with sjogren's.
Are you guys all just very fortunate or are GI issues really not that common?
Thanks, tuffymason

Hello, so sorry to hear about your stomach/GI issues - I have them as well. I think some folks with sjogrens have stomach issues while others do not. I belong to another forum where stomach issues are more the norm for that sjogren's population.

I take ranitidine and a probiotic to help. I have sinus infections frequently from the dryness and have taken antibiotics off and on for the past several years so I am certain that does not help with my stomach issues and there is the fact that we do not have as much saliva as other folks and therefore the food that needs to be digested is not easily digested without the extra saliva. Have you had any tests done on your stomach? You should talk with your dr about it minimally to determine if you need any testing.

I hope you can find something to help. Please keep us posted. Sending positive thoughts and prayers.

Hanginin I hesitated to answer your post because I definitely have GI issues but I am not sure they are related to Sjogrens. I think most of us have a variety of problems and it becomes hard to say what is responsible for what problems. Is it one disease or another? A treatment or medication adding to the misery or helping? I hope you are finding improvement.

You can have more than one autoimmune disorder. Consider a GI referral.

Morning, and thanks. I too know that allot of disorders causes allot of disorder🤢
It is hard sometimes, but eventually I can finally figure it out.
I have had gastric emptying tests and my stomach anyway does not work correctly. I also know that when it doesn’t work correctly there is allot of other functions that don’t function correctly.
What I don’t know is how to get a complete diagnosis to be able to then to work toward somewhat of a solution.
I always know that gut issues are really tough, nausea the worst and that where they are anxiety isn’t far behind causing even more gut symptoms.
I spent some time with Dr. Micheal Cline at the Cleavland Clinic online. He is amazing and speaks the words I can’t. If you want to understand the function or non-function as the case may be google Gastoparesis (paralyzed gut) and Dr. Micheal Cline. There is a pod cast you can listen to or read. It is me in a nut shell.
But I am not in the US. I am in Canada....where healthcare is “free”🤨 so long as you don’t expect much....but the years you wait for it.
I do have a good rheumy for the Lupus/Sjogren’s and she is good. But she has to send me to the gastroenterology clinic and well, that group remind me of allot of amebas in a Petrie dish bumping into each other and getting nothing definitive done ever. Never have I seen the same doctor twice in that clinic. Forget about follow-up. I have searched and found no Dr. Micheal Cline here sadly enough. Thanks tuffymason

Did they test you for celiac disease? I think Canada even has an OTC test like GB.
