Hi all,
My sister is bipolar and is getting good treatment and therapy (the folks say) but she continunes to practise inappropriate boundaries. By this I mean she sits or stands 3 inches away from the person she's engaging and talks loudly. If that person moves back a few inches she moves right back into the space. It feels inappropiate, invasive and can be intimidating. It is most certianly not welcoming. I tried to bring it up to her but she got defensive and ignored me. I don't even know if she really knows she does this? Is this a type of bipolar behaviour? She does this to everyone.

I can't say that specifically but I know under my mania I said and did many inappropriate thing, and I'm sure I made some people uncomfortable.  Mostly innapropriate sexual behavior and jokes. For me as i got better those thing went away with it.  She might be doing great, but remember that doesn't mean she still doesn't have a ways to go.  I saw vast improvements in one area and none in another for a long time...kinda weird how it works.  Hope that helps!!
