I seen a lot about witing to see doctors and it being weeks, so I was wondering.

How often do you see your Psychiatrists? One I mostly and talk to her over the phone, the other I see wekly. How long are you sessons? 40 90min Can the doctor be reached anytime for emrgencies or precriptions Fome there is a need for precriprions knockout drugs for pschosis (so I can stay homeand out of the hospital.)My doc charcges alot, but we live in CA so everything costs alot.

I can't imagining waiting a month to get in if yo are really sick. we really need everyoee to be able to afford good care.

Thanks for listening.

I see my pdoc once a months. If it was an emergency I think I am allowed to see him at least one more time before my insurance freaks out. Other than that, I think I have to go to the hospital. Which is not always where I want to end up, and not for a week or more.

QP, your doc may charge a lot, but the hospital will charge you a lot more. You should discuss with your pdoc what your options are, they are the best source to find out what may work for you.

The intake appointment (the first one) is usually the one that takes several weeks to get into. After that you have much greater access to the doc, usually.

I see my doc at least once a month and sometimes more frequently, depending on how urgent she decides it is. She'll tell me she wants to see me in 2 weeks, 3 weeks, whatever. We've never gone over 6 weeks though. Currently I'm seeing her every 3 weeks. My check ups are around 10-15 minutes long. I can always call and leave a message if I have an emergency situation, or naturally, go to the hospital.

I see my dr every 3 weeks unless there is an emergency then it is how ever many times it needs to be to keep me out of the hospital.  When things call down, it is back to every 3 weeks.  Kristin

I see my psychiatrist about once a month, sometimes longer or shorter lengths of time as we agree as needed. Some months of the year are "trigger point months" which he always sees me. He basically just checks to see how my meds are doing with me and will alter them as needed. I have been stable for quite some time on the meds I am taking right now, thankfully.

Where I get most (or alot) of my help is through my therapist whom I have been seeing for 8yrs now. She and I used to see each other every week but has tappered off over the years to an as needed basis. I have access to her 24/7. She has talked me into and out off hospitals several times. I really depend on her alot and she never is too busy to get back with you and assess the situation.

My psychiatrist & Therapist keep in contact as to my needs and ofter confer with each other.

Thankfully, I have good insurance from my military retirement. I don't know what else I would do. The combination has worked great for me.
