Hi, I just happened by the forum today and couldn't help but read a few posts.  It kinda frustrates me that there are so many questions and so many who are effected by Bipolar Disorder.  So that you know, I am actually a Licensed Therapist who has spent my life working with BP patients and their families.  At one time, I was the Director of Services of a Mental Health Center and currently I am in Private Practice.  My experience with Bipolar Disorder started 35 years ago when I first visited my Grandmother in the State Mental Hospital.  She spent 5 years there.  I was stunned with the devestating effects that it had on her life and the lives of her family.  Consequently, I ended up going into the field of psychology and eventually to graduate school. At present, I have a private practice and I am 24/7 consultant to the emergency room at our local hospital.  I also am a Designated Mental Health Examiner for the State in which I live.  I intend to come to the forum when I am able to and to answer what questions that I can in  the hopes of spreading some of the infomation that I have learned in my experience in the mental health field.  I don't want to pretend that I am an expert in any fashion.  An EX is a hasbeen and a spert is a little drip under pressure.  Maybe I can answer some questions and help some to know where to turn and what to do in some cases.  My time is somewhat limited, but I will try to log on from time to time and share as much as some of you that I have read about today.
Thanks,  Chuck

Welcome!! I just want to thank you for posting about my predicament. I was really appreciative that you took the time to help me. I had not thought of things in that light and your comments helped me to open my eyes and see that it wasn't my fault, it was his. But it is my fault that I let it get to me so much and hurt my feelings so badly. Thank you so much.

I am glad that you happened across our community.

Hi Chuck,

While your experiences are doubtless going to be invaluable for us, I'd like to point out Forum Rule #19. Do not use the forum to give professional medical advice. If you are a medical professional, please remember the forums and chat are for patient support and not to be used for distributing professional medical advice and/or using the forum to represent your professional services.

I really appreciate your offer, but please be wise about connecting with people via the web. And while I'm sure you're completely above board, Chuck, I'd just like to remind my board mates that anyone can say anything on the internet and to please be wary of what people claim online.

I have a question for you Chuck.  If I normally only have one to two manic/dep episodes a year, or even every other year, but now I had three episodes in one year.  Should I be worried about that.  I am now on Geodon to add to my Lamictal and Prozac.  I just can't seem to come completely out of this last episode which started 4 weeks ago, and it was different than the last two episodes.  What the heck is going on with me, and no I do not have a Psychologist with the clinic I go to.  All they have is support groups and I already do that.
