Hello, I am new to this forum, and new to the world of online support groups.  I was diagnosed 8 years ago with bi-polar disorder and have stuggled through the years following.  I am having a really difficult time right now, going through a divorce and I feel that I need to reach out for support.  I feel like I'm losing my mind.  I have a couple of wonderful friends that I can talk to but I find that I hold stuff back because I don't want to worry them or add to much additional stress to their lives.  I feel very alone, but don't want to be around people. Maybe this will help.

Welcome. I hope you can work through this setback. Are you seeing a therapist? On any meds?

I see a psyc every two weeks and am on a variety of meds, unfourtunatly we have had a very difficult time finding a combination that works for me.  I currently take Lamictal and Ciprilex (not sure about spelling) and something else to help me sleep it used to be trazadone but its been switched and I can't remember the name of the new one.

Its weird being alone again, my husband and I were together for 7 years and he spent every minute of every day with me.  That was part of the problem, he stopped seeing me as a person and only a disorder.

Thanks for the reply, it helps.

Hi Pippin,

Welcome to HealingWell and to the bipolar board.

I'm sorry to hear about your divorce. They are so hard. Do you have kids?

It's easy, I think, for people to lose track of the person behind the disorder. It's unfortunate. Remember there is more to you than bipolar, though. Right now you're enduring something painful, but you will get through it.

Good luck,

Hey Pippin!
Welcome to the group - I'm new here also, and new to the support group thing - especially online. It does seem to be a great place to find comfort though - and since it's basically anonymous you can say how you actually feel. I know that it is very difficult to talk to your friends in person about BP, especially depression, because it stresses them out, which makes you feel worse.
I hope that you will find comfort here.
- Joy
