Hi All - Just wanted to join in the "fun".  I was diagnosed with BPII over a year ago (have had the depression for 20 years but the BP crash was in 08) and it took almost as long to figure out the right combo of meds - effexor and tegretol - Lithium was just way too TOXIC - for my system!!  I thought I was going to crawl right out of skin some days.
So to anyone new to this "joyride" - hang on, be open about how things are making you feel, mentally and physically.  As I said to my pdoc - "We manage me"!!!   Perseverance pays off and even the pill pushin docs will listen if you make them understand!
Looking forward to discussing things with you all!!

Hi lisaland,

Welcome to HealingWell and the bipolar boards. It's good to have you. I totally agree that you have to be self-advocating and talk to your docs so they will listen. They work for you, you know?

Glad to have you here,
