That would drive me nuts too! You have to talk to him! You are the adult in charge. In order to take car of him - you have to take care of you! You definitely can set a strict this-is-my-computer-time time in the morning. Your routine is IMPORTANT!

Even my 3 yr old son can understand that I am having a bad day and I don't want him to talk to me or randomly hug me. He is super-sweet about it. So talk to him. Set up some expectations. After that is done, you can simply state the fact that he is repeating himself or something.

The second time he asks "how are you" you can respond something like "I'm feeling the same as I felt 2 minutes ago when you asked me the first time." The third time, "I am feeling frustrated that I have to repeat myself. I'm not 'fine' anymore, I am irritated with you because you have asked me 'how are you' three times in 10 minutes."

He has Asperger's - he can't pick up on your body language or frustration and when you snap he'll be confused and devastated. So talk to him! I call it good parenting - you are beginning to teach him what is sociall aceptable behavior in a way he can understand.

STOP BEATING YOURSELF UP! You are fine. It is just a new challenge. Since it is a kid, you are lucky to be able to have more influence in fixing it.

Great advice, glad that helps! I just wanted to chime in and say that irritability and guilt can equal depression symptoms; at least it does for me....Or other bp symptoms....So don't beat yourself up; what's going on in the house might be harder to deal with b/c you might not be feeling well?? And all in all it is a tough situation bp or not...

I am sure I made zero sense; forgive me...But super glad to read a post from you! Just wish you weren't having to struggle....but it's good that the work thing is a positive!
