I just don't know what to think!!!
I finally got off lithium almost 2 months ago and am now on Lamictal (100 mg), I am also off of Serequel and only taking 10mg of Lexapro.  I'm working on changing my diet, adding more exercise and trying to reduce stress as much as I can.  I have a pretty physical job, I walk around a manufacturing plant at least once a day.  I try to walk my dog or cross-train on my treadmill for at least 30 minutes, 5 days a week and I try not to eat at night.
Is it possible that the Lamictal is causing the same side effects as the Lithium?  Am I not working hard enough?  I just really started watching my diet and exercise within this last month, as many of you know I was unemployed for 5 months, living in a very stressful household and I just made a huge move-is it just the stress mixed with the poor diet and lack of activity for so long?
Is there anything I can do to jump start my metabolism?  I am so frustrated!

Lmictal is not known for any effect on weight, but Lexapro is.  not a good idea anyway for BP and Lamictal is not an effective stabilizer alone.

Your excercise regimen is a very good; maybe your diet may also need some tweaking.  how many times a day do you eat?  What are the size of portions?  What typically is the type of food you eat?  I was a personal trainer/nutrition counselor for a couple of years, things really haven't changed, haha.  You can email me if you like and maybe I can help you.  You may not be eating enough, in which case your metabolism will slow to a crawl, no matter how much you work out.  You can emial me at

  1. First take Shannon up on the offer, email her, but you have to jump start that metabolism and remember it's only been a month. It's a lifestyle maintenance.I eat about 6 times a day because I am diabetic, but they are small meals. Sometimes I am like OMG do I got to eat again. But you could do that to, you don't have to be diabetic. Good luck! Shannon gave me some pointers, I slack every once in awhile. Hey I am only human!!!!
