I have been dx bi polar awhile now but do to what was going on when I was dx I really didn't want to believe it. Things I have read on here sounds just like me.
I am on amptripilen and I am wondering if that med is right for me. I still get mad it seems sometimes for no reason I have the ups and downs. I also have other things going on with me.

I have neuropathy in my feet and carpil tunnel in both my hands.
DX Fibro 12/31/07   Guess I can put the rest dx
PSTD  Bi Polar 2/04  Depression most of my life  IBS
RX Amitriptylin 25mg
God gives doesn't give us more than we can handle. So this too shall pass.

Hello ladybug44r,

Welcome to the Bipolar forum :-)!

I am sorry to hear about your dx. I hope you are doing okay.

How long have you been on the Amitriptyline? Sometimes, we need to change meds if they're not working or get the dosage adjusted. Are you using any other meds for your carpal tunnel syndrome? Sometimes, meds do interact with each other so you have to take a note of all the meds you are using and be sure your doc is aware of them.

There are coping techniques you can use to help with the ups and downs. Distractions helps me. Sometimes, I would watch a movie, listen to music. You can also try going outdoors-just taking a walk. This helps.

Journaling helps as well. I write down my thoughts and feelings and it tends to make a feel a bit better. I also practice deep breathing. You can try these as well. They may help you :-).

Hi, Welcome to our club, sorry you had to join. Why would they give you Elevil(brand name) for BP2 or 1 for that matter? This med is an anti-depressant which is considered very bad for BP by every shrink and med. dr. I've ever had. I've was diagnosed Manic/Depressive 15yrs ago then it turned into Bi-Polar when they changed the name, I've been SMI for 6yrs and I've been on Every medication for Mental Health so I know something about this or I would't advise you about it. My suggestion is to ask you psych doc about the drug your on and have a discussion about All the meds that are available to you. I hope this helps and hang in there we are here if you need us smilewinkgrin
