struggling with bipolar

i am writing about my problems with bipolar i am 29. at the moment i am very unwell cycling and i do self harm,i have sufferd since i was a child,i suffer from bipolar 2 nearly always depressed the odd high.been on so many different combonations but none have really helped i find life awful always have  the depreesive phases typicaly last for aproxx 6m to year half the highs normally about 2 weeks wish it was the other way round life would be pretty pycatrist finding it hard to even spell properly should go back to school she has told me that i am treatment resistent and i have been refeerd to see a professer  seen him before but still had no look.i take 1600mg lithium plus lamical 400mg at the moment.i have also had ect on a few occasions but still no luck.i also spend time in hospital hate it,anyway thanks for listening

It sounds like you're really suffering Gaz. Hang in there, maybe the next thing they try will be the one that works. I know you're frustrated. It's so difficult to feel like a guinea pig. They try drug after drug with no success, but perhaps this next Dr. will finally come upon a solution, the relief you've been searching for.
My phases usually run the opposite of what you're experiencing. I stay up more often than not. My "ups" aren't really the positive experience alot of people envision bipolar hypomania to be. Yes I become very active, and unrealisticly upbeat in the beginning, but that soon deteriorates into irritability, anxiety, and paranoia.
I sure hope you're feeling better soon. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers
